One step above beginner or intermediate rider, and one step below pro, unless you're getting Zipp's explicitly pro-level line (and if you are, you're sure as heck not buying it, unless you're kidding yourself about how top-end of equipment you need).So with that preamble, Zipp once again delivered. Here's my scenario: I bought a gravel bike to replace my old racing cyclocross bike because I'm no longer doing that kind of riding and wanted the recreational angles and fit you get from a gravel bike (apologies to Van Der Poel and his new rainbow jersey). The bike I bought came with stock flared road bars, and I'm a long-time traditional roadie, meaning flares don't do it for me. But I wanted light, wanted bars that are flatter at the tops for more comfort (a recurring theme these days), and wanted a good ergonomically flattened area when I'm in the drops. I wanted slightly wider than my regular road bars, but only slightly (I know how to descend without having my arms spread like an inverse funnel). And I don't want carbon because 1) $$$ and 2) it's a gravel bike and I'm not so interested in worrying about $ gravel bars cracking on those rare truly rough spots. Voila!
