**Q: Foam density**
A: no sure but its a softer sponge so i would say not high density

**Q: Is there a particular way to wash this? Mine has black stains on it. Can I machine wash it?**
A: To get rid of black stains on the Big Red Sponge, spray some Optimum Power Clean on it, rub it in lightly, then rinse it out thoroughly, you can also use Optimum FerreX on the sponge, spray it on, let it sit for a minute, then rinse it out thoroughly. The FerreX will break down any contamination in the sponge and restore it. Store the sponge in a bucket of fresh ONR at 256:1 or .5oz of ONR per gallon of water, put an air tight lid on it and you're good to go.

**Q: Is it safe to use with 1 bucket only?**
A: Yes. That's how it was intended to be used. Keep a grit guard or two in your bucket. Having said that, I would have two buckets, each with their own sponge. One for wheels and one for paint. I was using one bucket but it gets dirty after a few washes. Remember to apply the minimum amount of pressure on the sponge. Just enough to maneuver around the car. I can do my whole car in about 30 mins. You also need to know how to dry your car and a good high gsm drying towel.

As far as car sponges go, this is seriously the most expensive I’ve bought. After buying a new(ish) car I thought I would treat it to better cleaning tackle, so along with a bucket with grit trap, a decent couple of large microfibres cloths, and a bottle of Optimum No Rinse Wash and Shine I’ve got through winter keeping my car looking pristine with minimal effort. With a couple of capfuls of Wash and Shine per bucket, all I do is wipe the wet sponge along the paintwork (no pre rinsing required unless your car is caked up with mud). It picks up dirt in a way that other sponges that I’ve used previously do not. So you’re effectively wiping your car clean, then drying with the microfibre cloth. What was a 30 minute job is not a much easier 10 minute job - in winter, that’s a win for me. Cleaning the car is no longer a long slog. After 6 months use, the sponge looks pretty much like when I bought it - others I’ve used have always looked pretty tatty after a couple of months. Tip - you need to be sharpish if your car has been in the sun, it’s best to wash and dry panel by panel to stop remaining water drying on the car. Tip 2 Before you buy, watch the YouTube videos for these two products - they do work.
