Small, lightweight and long life.

Why anyone would buy a "LifeStraw" when they could have one of these is beyond me. They filter at a much finer level, do 100,000 gallons (WAY more than the lifestraw), and are WAAAAY more versatile, with the extra attachments, bags etc. Why do I love this unit: 1) it has a very, very, micro fine filter, that truly filters water so that it is safe to drink. 2) unit is very small, super lightweight, easy to pack, and durable. 3) there is no way I will ever use it enough to exceed the 100,000 gallons maximum. 4) there are lots of attachments that can be added for versatility. 5) really inexpensive. 6) super easy to care for; just back flush and you are done. What I don't like is everyone LOVES my Sawyer, and I keep giving them away; I just can't stand seeing someone going hiking or traveling remotely without the ability to make safe drinking water! So I keep having to buy more, as I keep an "emergency" one in each vehicle, in each "go bag", in the aircraft, and in every building we frequent (house, shop, hanger...); plus we have our "take away" ones for when we go hiking and camping. If you are comparing this to other units, really take a look at the specs: how fine is the filter, for how many gallons is it good for, and how easy is it to use and pack. Don't just get the one your buddy has or is more well known. Trust me, this is the best one.

I flushed the filters with 10 litres each, and then drank soft drinks through it. It successfully filtered the fluid into normal clean water. I then backflushed the filters until they are reasonbly cleaned. Product works fine Subsequently when I re-ordered another 4 water filters, 1 of them was defective and did not came with the cap. This is rather unhygienic as it means that dirt can quite easily get into the mouthpiece, when the entire premise of the product is to have clean water.

I cannot say enough about the versatility of these filters. Very very small which is amazing for backpacking, just back-flush the filter with fresh water after a weekend of use with the included syringe for easy maintenance and cleaning. Connects to a standard water / pop bottle, use as a straw, put in-line with your water bladder or my personal favorite use an old water bladder as your dirty bag and use the filter as a gravity fed system. I've had the luxury of decent water sources on my backpacking trip so cannot speak for dirty water sources, however; have been very happy and have not had any water related ilnesses while on ym trips. Thanks for the amazing product!
