**Q: What mechanism does the device use to trick the computer? How does this work (in technical terms)?**
A: It's a dummy headset plug. All it does is tell the phone there's a headset plugged in. Most phones will mute their regular microphones when a headset is plugged in, but that's a software decision, and the phone's mic can still be accessed. Unfortunately, this is not a secure way to disable the phone's microphone from passive, NSA-style listening.

**Q: Will this stop any audio going into my iPhone 6s Plus?**
A: It depends. The internal mic is selected by software, not a hardware lockout. So it's still theoretically possible for malware to use your internal microphone. I'm also not 100% sure about "hey Siri." I think that uses the internal mic, even if a headset is plugged in. (My 7 seems to.)

**Q: My PC has a 3.5mm mic jack and a mic next to the webcam. Will this disable all mics?**
A: Hi, thank you for your question. If it's an internal mic on the PC, just plug in mic-lock into your 3.5mm jack and it will look like an active mic but no audio input will be allowed. Thanks again

**Q: Is this for blocking malware from listening in on your conversations?**
A: This is basically a dead end to your microphone. Your device will recognize it as a microphone but there is none. So it should block anything listening to you, except for the ones who try to listen to you through the screen, Those you should be so careful about! Lol!
