Can these fill a medium-size room from optical out on tv? as tv speakers?

It'll shake the rafters in a 20'x20' room if you let it. I can hear them comfortably in every corner of my 2000 sq ft single-level home.

I am getting these Kanto yu6 speakers for my desktop pc, can i just use an optical cable from my motherboard to the speaker instead of rca?

The amp does a decent job with my turntable - you'll need to play with the volume and balance a little to get it where you like it, but it works well.
