Anchor Hocking Batter Bowl, 2 Quart Glass Mixing Bowl

Great mixing bowl & measuring jug, particularly the robust design, size and toxin free materials. I use it daily.

This really is a large jug! I was struggling from the photo to get an idea of size (something to compare it with in a photo would be good). Yes, it is quite heavy, but it would have to be at this size. I wanted it so that I had something to measure the rising of my bread dough. I usually make dough using 1 kilo of flour and this jug comfortably accomodates this quantity of dough. It is very difficult to accurately judge when a ball of dough in a bowl has doubled in size, with this jug you can see exactly where the dough comes to when it goes into the jug, and know for certain when it has doubled. The other fantastic thing is, that because it is clear you can also see the development of the dough, I can see the bubbles forming and know whether the bread is developing that nice, airy, holey texture. The other reason I love this jug is because it has raised measures and not printed ones. All the glass jugs I own eventually lose the measuring marks and become pretty useless for what they were designed for.This means that I have to replace a perfectly 'good' jug to be able to measure again, which seems to me to be very ecologically wasteful.These measures are permanent, so unless I manage to break it (and as it is a very sturdy jug, this seems unlikely) it should be of useful service for many, many years. Aside from breadmaking it is a very useful jug. It is big enough to use as a mixing bowl, it is great for recipes where you need large quantities of liquid and would have to fill a standard sized jug several times and I have even managed to fit it in the bottom of my small fridge. I am very pleased with this jug.

in un primo momento sono rimasta impressionata dalla grandezza di questa caraffa, ma per colpa mia che non ho immaginazione. sono due litri e quindi e' grande ma bassotta. l'aspetto e' robusto con quel vetro cosi' spesso e temperato. sono contenta del beccuccio che aiuta nel versare liquidi e semiliquidi. lo cerco sempre nelle pentole e pentolini o anche semplicemente terrine, ma sembra che i costruttori non ne capiscano l'utilita'. anche l'asticella graduata con doppia scala sia in inglese-americano sia italiano europeo e' ottima. finalmente non devo sempre andare a veder a quanto corrispondono le misure di tazze o pinte o non so che altro. non l'ho ancora usata ma sono sicura che andra' benissimo sia per contenere che per sbattere, specie la panna che di solito tende a schizzare. speriamo non cada altrimenti certamente ho paura che si rompera'. per ora sono soddisfatta dell'acquisto. avevo intenzione di comperare quella della pirek che secondo me e' anche ottima, ma con uno o due euro in piu' ho avuto una misura doppia. ottime tutte e due. io ho gia' una pirex. consegna sollecita e puntuale. tutto ok. consiglio se si ha spazio dove metterla anche se lo si trova essendo utile.

Endlich mal nichts aus Kunststoff. Der Glasmessbecher mit seinem 2l Volumen ist in meiner Küche nahezu ständig im Einsatz - auch als Rührschüssel oder zum Abseihen von Saucen und Suppen. Sehr stabil und standfest. Und im Gegensatz zu meinem kleinem Glasmessbecher von Pyrex läuft dieser in der Spülmaschine nicht an.
