Solid Tool
The forged steel construction feels solid and confidence‑inspiring, and the leverage it provides makes even stubborn, buried, or rusted nails come out with far less effort than expected. It bites cleanly into the nail head without slipping, and the curved design gives you excellent control when prying. What stands out most is how precise it feels. Instead of tearing up the surrounding material, the jaws grip firmly and lift the nail with minimal damage especially helpful when working on trim, reclaimed lumber, or any project where you want to preserve the surface. The handle shape offers a comfortable grip, and the balance makes it easy to apply steady, controlled force. Overall, it’s a tough, reliable tool that does exactly what it’s supposed to do: remove nails cleanly, quickly, and without drama. A great addition for anyone who works with wood, renovates, or just wants a dependable tool for those “why won’t this come out” moments.

Not powerful enough
Caveat: I'm new to nippers, so have no frame of comparison. But these wouldn't flush cut some protruding, quite thin, mild steel screws, which is what I bought them for.

I’ve been using this Bates cat’s paw nail puller and end cutting pliers for various carpentry and repair tasks, and it works extremely well. The tool feels solid and well made, with good leverage for pulling nails and staples cleanly. It gets under nails easily without damaging the surrounding wood, and the grip is comfortable even when applying more force. I’ve used it on a few projects and it has held up perfectly. Overall, this is a reliable and durable tool that does exactly what it’s supposed to do. It’s a great addition to any toolbox, and I’m very happy with it.

This tool yanks nails like it’s on a personal vendetta. I’ve used it to pull out bent nails, rogue staples, and one very stubborn carpet tack that thought it could outsmart me — spoiler: it couldn’t. The jaws bite down with the determination of a terrier, and the leverage makes me feel like a superhero with a grudge against crooked fasteners. It’s sturdy, feels solid in the hand, and has already saved me from hammer-related rage more than once. Honestly, if you’ve ever tried prying nails out with the back of a hammer and sworn loudly at your wall, this thing will feel like therapy in tool form. Highly recommended anyone who just enjoys the oddly satisfying act of pulling stuff out of wood.

Very solid, very hard metal and great biting edge. Well machined with good mating on the cutting edges makes cutting wires that might be a challenge for diagonal cutters easy, These are the best gripper/cutters to use for wire tying fences (wrap/twist/snip and does it with ease in half the time. Pulling leverage, like a hammer, but in a small package.

I recently added the Bates Nail Puller to my toolbox, and let me tell you, it's a game-changer! As a carpenter, I've struggled with removing stubborn nails and staples from woodwork, but this tool has made the task a breeze. The design is sturdy and ergonomic, fitting comfortably in my hand and providing excellent leverage. Whether I'm working on a small DIY project or tackling a larger construction job, the Bates Nail Puller handles everything I throw at it with ease. Plus, its durable construction ensures it will last for years to come. Overall, I can't recommend the Bates Nail Puller enough.
