Best tool I have for my shoulder mobility.
Great product. Best tool I have for my shoulder mobility which is hampered by a previous surgery and overuse. This is not a product to increase strength, it is a mobility tool similar to a pvc pipe many oly lifters and crossfitters are familiar with. The addition of the fitness bands (surgical tubes) activates muscle fibers and you will feel the burn unlike a pvc pipe. The sliding "handles" allow your shoulder joints to "open" while doing "pvc pass throughs".

Extremelly frustrating
Setting up the bar is extremelly frustrating and even painful. The sliding grips locking/unlocking mechanism is really hard to get it to unlock when setting up or changing resistance. It’s annoying to the point I’m thinking of returning it. If I have to deal with this over the next couple of days or if it breaks I’m definitely returning.

Exercise I actually enjoy
I've been using this for a few days now, and I have to say that it is one of the best exercise devices I've come across. It comes in a box about 4.5 feet long, and it does require assembly, but the process is painless and relatively self-evident and easy. It comes with three different strength stretch "cables" (yellow, red, and black--weakest to strongest), and I'm starting out with the yellow one. If you haven't been working out for a while, I recommend doing this. I can definitely feel the effects, and will probably move up to the red cables in a month or so. It clearly works on more than the shoulder muscles, since I can feel it in my whole arm. It also makes me stretch my arms, which I can really feel after working at my desk most of the day. The little brochure that comes with the Mobility Bar shows four different drills that help strengthen and improve balance. It mentions "training videos" on the SKLZ website, but as of this writing I can't find them there. As a guy who recently passed 70 years of age, I need to preserve my balance, which can be done only by maintaining core strength in a symmetrical way and without overdoing routines in a way that risks injury. It's not difficult to imagine additional drills as I work with the bar. However, you definitely need space to use it. The whole bar, although lightweight, when assembled it is around 7 feet long. Working with it in a normal room with an 8-foot ceiling can be difficult, especially if you want to use it more or less vertically. I've gotten exercise devices in the past (some from SKLZ), and many of them may be worthwhile but impractical to use for various reasons. The Mobility Bar is a pretty remarkable invention for impact-free exercise and stretching. It's not cheap, but then again it's not made cheaply either. For those who want to go out to a park or gym to use the bar, it comes with a well-made quiver-like case with a comfortable shoulder strap and a pocket for the extra cables.

Good Product, Weak documentation.
Four Stars, Not five....Why because the directions it came with are pathetic. So couple things to realize, Number one this is really not for strength building. It is a mobility bar for stretching and maybe rebuilding some damaged shoulders, etc. Second the exercise guide is tiny and not much there. Their is a online video and it is okay but I was not impressed. Assembly was fairly easy but one thing to note is only one band is used in the center. It goes all the way across into both handles. (See Pictures). I pulled something in my shoulder about two years ago. Hoping this will clear things up and help rebuild it. Pictures attached, Nice bag, three sets of bands and two papers for documentation.

Want Shoulder Mobility and Strength? Look No Further!
Health and fitness are two of my biggest hobbies and I’m always looking for new products to help me get into optimum shape and sculpt my body. And, anything that can increase my mobility is a plus, since I don’t always stretch the way I should. First, the bar is very easy to put together. It has a handy, one page guide. It took me about two minutes from start to finish. It only took that long because it wasn’t clear that the clips to lock in the bands slide rather than open upwards. Keep that in mind! After that, it’s just a matter of using the bar. There are three different resistance levels possible depending on which bands you use. The loosest option doesn’t do much for me, but the highest resistance is a nice workout. The unit comes with a small workout guide, but it’s possible to get creative too. It can definitely be a good workout, one that builds strength and increases flexibility at the same time. If your shoulders are in need of strengthening and stretching, this product will do it. The only downside is the price. For someone who really needs shoulder work, perhaps even for rehab purposes, or athletes like pitchers or quarterbacks, it’s an ideal and important piece of equipment. Otherwise, it lacks some versatility. Although it can be combined with other moves (like lunges), it ultimately is shoulder oriented and that limits the appeal. Still, if you need a good, quality shoulder specific workout, this is a great bar. I’ve given it five stars because it works well. But, especially for the price, it won’t be for everyone.

Discontinued Item - No customer support from SKLZ
Beware of buying this Mobility Bar. Mine is one year old and the resistance tubes have deteriorated and broken. SKLZ customer support said that the item is discontinued and they wont provide replacement parts. After paying $99.00 for a piece of equipment that only lasted a year and now is rendered useless I wont be buying from SKLZ again.

Perfect device for improving strength and mobility of shoulders.
This is a very original device. I have never seen anything else like it. It comes needing assembly, but that took five minutes tops. There are three sets of resistance bands, providing three levels of resistance, and changing them takes a couple of minutes. It does take down into two pieces and comes with a nice case. Assembled it is nearly seven feet long. The two sliding handles, visible in the photo, can be slid either toward the center or toward the ends, providing resistance either way. To use this, you just hold the handles and move them back and forth while holding the bar in different positions. I am nearly 70, and have some shoulder issues. This product is absolutely perfect for me. It not only works and strengthens the muscles around the shoulders, it also improves the mobility and range of motion of the shoulder joints. I could feel an immediate improvement after my first session with it, and it is getting better as I go along. I have, for example, added maybe five feet to the range of my basketball shots. If you need to work your shoulders, this is the way to go. It is not a complete exercise program. I also walk and row on a Concept 2 rowing machine. This is for my shoulders.

Great Piece of Equipment.
I wasn't really sure what to expect when I ordered this-though i will say it's quite a bit longer than I thought it would be. Yes, I know they give dimensions, I just sometimes forget to look at them. Anyways, I've never worked out with something like this before. Weighted bars-yes, but not a bar with the addition of movement. When we opened it, my husband remarked that he liked the construction. And it is a sturdy and well put together piece of equipment. I decided to be the test dummy. I did lunges, holding it over my head as I moved the handles in and out-it was easy... For the first minute that is. This is all about repetition, and this does the trick. There is a little brochure that comes with the bar, and I did the suggested four exercises and it was a good workout. It won't replace our free weights any time soon, but I liked the added feeling of stretching as I exercised. The muscles in my arms and shoulders can get tight, and I liked that this felt as if it was stretching them. It is easy enough for our younger boys to use, and I don't worry about the weights hurting them as they are still young-12, though our 8 year old did want to try it as well. Plus it's nice that you can adjust the tension with the different straps. This is a great addition to our growing home gym. and I look forward to getting a lot of use out of it.
