This version of SAMe is stable, others are not.
If you purchase SAMe in a chalky tablet that is not enteric coated, you are wasting your money. SAMe does not like air. Do not consider less expensive "SAMe" tablets a bargain. They decompose before entering the body. This product comes coated and advises refrigeration. They are delivering a responsible product, IMO. This product has helped my dog with canine dementia. Before I found this product, I went through two bottles of an uncoated "SAMe" with no effect.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. MISLABELED AND NOT GOOD FOR YOUR DOG'S LIVER.
My 15 -yr-old, 22 lb. dog has had Wilson's disease, a serious liver disease, his whole life. Thanks to a rigorous regimen prescribed 13 years ago by our vet that includes SAMe and penicillamine daily, we were able to reverse it and maintain him with a completely healthy liver to this day. We had always used Denosyl, but the pills are large and he didn't like the chewable. When I saw this, it seemed like a great substitute and half the price. NOT THE CASE. THE PRODUCT SHOULD BE RECALLED FROM THE AMAZON SITE because: - It says it's 200 mg, 1 pill for a med. dog. The bottle says 1 pill for a 40-60 lb. dog. So which label part is wrong: that it's 200mg, or the dosage? Either way, it's wrong and inspires mistrust. - It does not contain milk thistle, a significant ingredient in Denosyl and other brands and necessary for liver health therapy. - NO ONLINE DESCRIPTION OF WHAT IS IN THE PILL. When you click on the mfr.,YOU GET NO CONTENT INFORMATION. Contrast that to what you get from the Denosyl site. In fact, here are the other things in this pill, copied off the bottle's label: โข 400 mg of S-Adenosyl-L-Methionine Disulfate Tosylate and a net of 200 mg of SAMe per tablet โข Other: stearic acid (vegetable soure), magnesium sterate (vegetable soure), silica, croscarmellous sodium, dicalcium phosphate, HPMC pthelate Here is Denosyl's: SAMe (S-Adenosyl-L-Methionine) 225 mg Milk Thistle 40 mg N-Acetyl L-Cysteine 40 mg L-Taurine 33 mg Zinc Ascorbate 20 mg Pyridoxine HCI 16 mg B-Complex Proprietary Blend 14 mg D-Alpha Tocopheryl Acetate FINALLY, HERE IS WHAT OUR VET SAID IN RESPONSE TO MY ASKING HER ABOUT THIS PRODUCT: "I am very sure that Sterling is better off receiving Denosyl than the generic. The reputation of the nutromax labs is so good that they are preferentially used by the universities for all their studies, The producers of many of the generic drugs are not nearly as good and when analyzed often to not contain either the correct amount or sometimes even the correct drug in the pill. Also the milk thistle is an important part of the liver supportive nutrients." And no, I have no connection to Denosyl. Just an interest in letting others know the facts and avoid potentially harming their animal.

Excellent product.
I cannot attest to flavor as for my dog. However, after being suggested by my dogโs vet after diagnosing him with a large liver mass, I can say it has made a huge difference to my petโs overall well-being. While I know this is not a cure it has made him much livelier, alert and overall a happy and contented pup. He is 13 and we know on borrowed time but I can honestly say a heartfelt thank you for making his, and my, life for now much improved.

Coated SAMe product impossible to split
My Maltese-Shih Tzu was prescribed this product. However, this particular product has a coating on it which makes it impossible for me to split in half. The previous bottle from the same company did not have the coating so I was able to split it and it was easier to give him.

... blood work come back and her liver numbers are better as the result of getting this medicine
After using the product for several months my 12 yr dog's blood work come back and her liver numbers are better as the result of getting this medicine. I give her 1 tablet every day since she weights about 32 lbs. My vet is very happy with the result and I will continue to use the product. I only wished that pills would be flavored so I would not have to pill pockets or use peanut butter to get my dog to take the medicine. Overall I'm happy with the results.
