Compact powerhouse
First off, it's not a low light champion though passable. Had a RX 100 M3 and this is much better in overall color science , picture sharpness and response. Even at high ISOs around 3200, you can get an usable picture , the grain and noise is well controlled. The lens is sharp throughout the zoom, but especially at 4.0 to 5.0. Battery life is ok , can last a day if you do not shoot 4k videos. And do get a high speed card , the writing speed improves. Impressive dynamic range and color tonality, not very good in dark conditions where an iphone or Google pixel can take better pictures with computational photography. Itching to take it while traveling. Cannot lug around my 7D after buying this. Returned the order for the Canon G5 X Mk 2 , I feel this is an overall better camera. Do not use it as as iphone for shooting, it's far more talented !

Good product
Overall its a good product. would by again. The reason for 4 stars is battery live is ok. The battier gets the job done but should have an extra one close by.

Firstly picture quality. I am so impressed with the optical quality of the lens on this camera. A little soft in the corners full open and at close focus. Otherwise pin sharp. 4K video great too. Yes, I gave it 4 stars in "ease of use" despite the lack of touch screen navigation and the myriad of nested menus. Why - excellent Auto characteristics (most of the time) and the SCN (Scene) setting gets you to where you need to be quickly. In addition, the function button brings up only those settings that you need to consider if you don't like the Auto or SCN suggestions. There is logic to how it is laid out. Not to forget the touch screen focus and auto tracking override, when you want to force the camera on one specific subject. Buttons and dials are "really" tiny but remember, this is a highly-capable pocketable travel camera, not a studio camera. To look at the pictures, you would be hard to tell the difference from a good APS-C sensor. Battery life is neither great or bad. I use the viewfinder predominantly and my experience to date has been OK. Pics include a raft of California Sea Lions taken at max zoom (200mm equ.) and some graffiti taken at between 24-50mm equ.

This little camera from Sony is an awesome imaging device. Though it is sold as a point-and-shoot camera, it has full manual controls over settings. Some interesting facts about this camera are - 1. It can shoot even in RAW-only mode. 2. Impressive colour reproduction and dynamic range, particularly if one considers its small sensor size. 3. Auto-focus system is very quick and accurate . 4. Very high burst mode suitable for BIF or sports photography. 5. Very handy zoom range for shooting any kind of photography, except wildlife. There are some cons as well. They are 1. High ISO performance is not so good. 2. Menu navigation for changing settings sometimes can become cumbersome. 3. Buttons are too small to find out quickly, though its not a deal breaker. 4. Price is a little high. Anything around 60K would have been appropriate. Overall, this pocket camera is good for someone who is starting photography and who travels a lot.

Very happy with this purchase. I don’t have to carry a large SLR and it has a 1 inch sensor. Great imagery in photo and film. I’m

This is a little powerhouse of a mini camera. Only been using it for a couple weeks, but heres an initial review, basically likes and dislikes. The camera is small and packed with features useful for the prosumer. It’s a bit on the hefty side having a very solid case, that might be partially metal. The Zeiss lens is amazing being a 25-200mm equivellant at F2.8 to F4.5 and quite sharp. The menu system is extensive but takes a while to learn to navigate. The exterior finish, as others have noted, is a bit on the slippery side. A rubber grip pad is available from Sony that fits perfectly. Considering the price, I think this should be factory included. It solves the problem completely. The controls are a bit small for my fat fingers, but I dont see how they could be much bigger. The mode wheel on top is a little stiff to turn. I consider this to be a major advantage, preventing accidental mode change. The viewfinder is essential in my experience. The wireless transfer took a while to learn, but finally got it. Looking foreword to taking pix in Alaska next week. Also will report on very low temperature performance. Now, back from Alaska. Camera performance just fine in cold temperatures. One day it was 45 below. The camera did not get that cold, but I did use it outside for a few minutes. Image quality is impressive. Played on our 60” TV and looks just fine. I tend to use Aperture Priority (A) on the mode dial and Auto on the ISO menu. I used f5.6 for good focus depth and optical quality. It fits very nicely in a GI grena** belt pouch for quick access. Im thoroughly happy with this mini camera. Some have complained about the menu and button controls. Actually, I find the menu relatively easy to navigate after you have played with it for a while. The butttons are quite easy to use and understand.
