Mine gets dirty after a few hours with blister on finger. Does changing every few hours interrupt healing process?

Accepted Answer

By replacing the bandage so often, you are interrupting the healing process.  Just wash off the top of the bandage with a soapy bath cloth.

Who is the marketing genius at band-aid who decided not to include size information on the packaging boxes (small, medium, large, x-large etc.) ?

In response to the lead answer, all wound care advice states “ contrary to popular belief, exposing a wound to air doesn’t necessarily help it heal faster. In fact, a wound needs moisture to aid in its wound healing process.”

Also these Bandaids have a stretch factor and fit like a standard 1”x 3” bandage. They’re amazing.

Question 3

My doctor asked - what's in them?  Is there anything anti microbial?

Accepted Answer

No antimicrobial as they are intended for an "uninfected wound" & are applied to a properly "cleaned wound." I'm not exactly sure how one might be certain if one has punctured their skin (it appears to be a design traditionally used for ~fresh burns or acne cysts ...or skin grafts also)...but..? I guess they assume you'll be taking samples & culturing for bacteria...(?).. Wait! Nope; there's several warnings for "doctor's supervision," including "deep" punctures, fragile skin, burns (oddly enough), etc., or if you suffer from diabetes or if you have poor circulation. Also, they are not for children.

Otherwise! They have an adhesive matrix inner layer that likely contains gelatin, (a) polysaccharide(s), & carboxymethyl cellulose (artificial tear eye drops, etc.). As the wound heals & discharges "exudate" (fluid), it reacts with the matrix to form a moist gel...which apparantly results in the ideal healing environment for your wound.

If I'm working out and it's on a muscle, will it stretch?

There is some stretch, but if you get sweaty during this workout, it will likely fall off.
