Fabulous for making loose leaf tea. Much better than the tea egg or filtering spoons I have used in the past. Size is perfect for a large mug of tea. Love it. I actually bought two of them!

This is the most unfair poorly rated item I've ever seen on Amazon. I've owned too many tea accessories over the past 30 years of my life to count, of every kind. In my family, we each make our own pot of loose leaf tea in the morning, and again later in the day. For years now (since I first saw these in a tea shop) I've been using these at least twice a day for several family members. So I keep 5 of these in the cupboard. They are the size of a large mug, so they are easiest to serve one person. They are ideal for loose leaf tea, compared to any other pot, because they allow tea to fill all the space (unlike an insert, which reduces the space in which tea leaves can expand and diffuse). The pot is beautiful only because it is a simple glass vessel and allows you to watch your tea leaves and floral or herb tisanes to expand. Pouring is idea. The filters prevent even the finely ground debris of Irish Breakfast tea to be held back. When we are done, removing the cover allows the entire mass of tea to be easily pulled out (as compared to a narrower necked teapot). It takes 10 seconds. I always dump my tea in the garden beds or my compost pile, because it's good for the garden. It's perhaps not the prettiest teapot out there. But it's the most beautiful for the function it offers. They age well and I've never had one break. But I do wish the stainless steel and its mesh and spring edge were shinier over the years of use. Really, a minor complaint for what has turned out to be the best tea accessory I have ever purchased in my life. I see people here comparing this pot to a French press. But that's like expecting a spoon to function as a fork. The product design is intended for a different function. And I do not like what a French press does to tea: compressing it to extract more bitter compounds. For tea, this is precisely what's needed to make a great cup. I suppose the only addition I would give it is an insulated sleeve to keep the tea at its hottest for steeping, since glass is a heat conductor. But I've not seen a teapot offering that.

I make pots of tea with loose leaves every day and this teapot is perfect for one, no matter how fine the leaf none end up in your cup. They pour perfectly with no drips. There’s also a larger version for making several cups of tea. I recommend using a wooden spoon to stir the leaves as using a metal spoon can crack the glass (I learned this the hard way). Amazon sells a lovely olive wood spoon which is perfect for this. It’s great or tisanes too, I often make fresh mint or nettle tea. The filter is stainless steel and easy to dismantle and clean if necessary, no plastic anywhere. I wish Rishi made tea cosies to fit their pots as glass can lose heat quickly, I made one myself out of two layered fleece and that works well. Great gift for a tea loving friend!
