Mini Pom-Pom Pets

My daughter did not like it.

Absolutely adorable craft set including everything you need (except for the fork) to make cute pompom characters. The 64 page book have clear instructions and lots of crafty ideas on how to create little habitats for pompom pets. Our favourite was placing pompom fish on the top of aquarium gravel in spare jar. I notice in other reviews that some parents struggled making the pompoms, we haven't experienced this... You really need to try hard not to be able to make a pompom, it is not that difficult. My 9 year old knew how to make fork pompoms long time before we even got this book. The set includes: - yarn in 8 colours (82 m / 90 yards) - 28 pre-made miniature pompoms to use for noses & chicks (in 2 sizes), - 40 bead eyes, - 15 bead noses, - 10 heart shaped sequin noses, - 8 pieces of wire, - blush marker, - measuring tape, - glue, - punch-out paper noses, ears, paws etc.

I was kind of worried that the cute pom pom pets would be hard to make because of all the negative reviews, but it's actually fairly easy if you have any sort of fine motor skills. Last night, me, my husband, my sister, and another friend spent a couple hours playing with this kit. All four of us were able to successfully create both basic "baby" pom pom pets (made with a single pom) and more complex "grownup" pets (which require wires and multiple colors). My sister and I are super crafty, so our pets came out exactly like the photographs from the get go, but neither my husband nor our friend had much trouble making cute pets. It helped that the directions were clear and extremely thorough. Each step was clearly illustrated, and there were lots of photos to model after. Our friend is not a native English speaker but she was able to follow along just fine. The directions were really incredibly thorough. They even have a photograph of the right size fork to use, to scale. You just have to follow the directions exactly for the poms to turn out perfectly. The kit includes everything you need (except fork, scissors and nail clippers) to make 10 to 20 pom pom pets. We spent a couple hours playing with it, and we still have enough leftover supplies to make a lot more.

It wasn’t the easiest of crafts to make and the small size made making it challenging as well. But the cute results made the time spent worth it. Super cute!
