840732 Tibro Carpenter Axe - 1.75 lb Head, 20" Handle

This is bar none the nicest axe I own. The edge is very sharp and the steel is high quality. The straight handle is matched very tightly to the head without gaps. I was not sure this was going to be a good camp for splitting small wood but I was wrong - it is a perfect camp axe with the 20" handle. Take care of it and it will last forever.

This axe is really quite a piece if work. It was sharp, the handle was true, and the fit was perfect. I always tweek my handles so after a bit of form fitting I coated it with Linseed Oil and I am awestruck. I suppose someone might be able to make a better one. I just don't know how it would be possible. I also have the Aneby and the Gran. I love them all!!!!!

This thing is beautiful. Old school quality. Came very sharp, I could actually cut paper with it. I would buy it again.

The bevel is extremely uneven. For $140 I expect much higher quality. The edge came extremely sharp but with a couple small burs and a small amount of rust. I'm getting a replacement and will update this review when I receive it. If it's more of the same lack of quality, I'll be returning for a refund and buy something better.

Really want to give this little guy the same 5 star rating as my perfect Hults Bruk American Felling Axe but there are definitely some quality control issues with my example. The handle is not one of them. The handle is the nicest factory axe handle I've seen (hults, transforms, council) Perfect grain and beautifully shaped. The head seems to be securely hung but there are gaps on the underside which may or may not lead to wobble. (Hults said it shouldn't be a problem?) The edge bevel, while beautifully polished and shaving sharp out of the box, is the reason for only 3 stars. It is very very mismatched/offset. At 1st I thought: hey it's a carpenter's axe. Some do have offset bevels. Maybe they just didn't advertise it or spec it anywhere. However when I contacted HB, they said no, it was definitely supposed to be a symmetrical grind and that I should warranty it. Good customer service but a flaw of that nature on an axe of this price is pretty bad. Feels like HB's QC may be hit or miss. Otherwise another fantastic Hults Bruk tool! Great feel and balance. Fixed the bevel myself with a file and love this little sweetie now!

Wish it came with belt sheath
