Good for price
I was looking for a cheap bread cutting thing like this for my loafs of bread from my bread machine. I also wanted something that wouldn't take up much space, and this is both cheap and breaks down small. It's definitely not the fanciest but I'll give it 5 stars for what I paid for it. It's super easy to assemble and disassemble, and easy enough to clean. It's kind of short, so I'll cut half a standard size bread machine loaf then move that half and cut the rest. It's not the sturdy cutting board plastic so it has a lot of cut marks after a few months of use, but I'm sure it's no worse than any other microplastics in my body. All in all, it's nothing fancy but I'd totally recommend it for anyone looking for a straightforward, cheap bread slicing guide!

Flimsy
I was really hoping this bread cutting guide would make slicing bread easier, but it just didn’t work well for me. The pieces are pretty flimsy and don’t stay in place. They fall out while you’re trying to cut the bread, which gets frustrating fast. It just feels cheaply made and not very sturdy. But I guess that’s what I get for trying to save a little money.

Flimsy
I should've spent a little extra money and got the stainless steel bread guide slicer. This one is cheap. Cheap in quality and comes off the track at the least little pressure. Knife is easily taken off the guides as there isn't much to guide the knife bc of the cheap plastic material. I fear one day the plastic guides will break while slicing the bread. Until I purchase a better bread slicing guide I think I will glue down the bottoms of the slicer so it will stay in place and not come off the tracks every time I slice the bread. Another disadvantage is that the slicer is too short. It should be longer or have an expandable part to accomodate longer loafs of bread.

Worth the money
It's a little flimsy, but for the price I think it does a pretty good job

It is what it is. Works well for the price. Easy to store.
Reviewing Adjustable Toast Slicer/ Cutting Guide for Homemade Bread, Plastic Bread Slicer Loaf... If you're a bread machine addict like I am but don't have the money to spend or don't want another hard-to-store piece of kitchen equipment, you may love this bread slicer as I do. Easy to assemble - 4 pieces snap or slide together. Easy-peasy. Its diminutive size makes it unusable for large loaves. For smaller to medium loaves you can cut the loaf in half & take it from there. For freshly baked, warm bread, use a serrated knife (carefully wipe the blade between slices). For cooled bread, I've found an electric knife works best. What I really like about this product is that it collapses easily & I can store it in a drawer. My kitchen was built in the 1920s so is small with limited storage space. It's a little flimsy so don't get too aggressive with it (but that also makes it easy to break down. Also, the price. Can't beat that with a stick! It's an easy-to-use/clean piece of bread-making equipment if you only need to cut small-ish loaves.

The guides are very flimsy, and the sides aren’t secure.
I returned this item. It wasn’t very sturdy. When you sliced your bread, the guides were flimsy, which made it difficult. Also, the sides don’t feel secure, when pressed in their slots. I was worried I would break one of the guides, if I pressed very hard, but it didn’t fit in the slot well anyway. I’ve had a bread cutting guide before, and it was much stronger and nicer than this. (It wasn’t a fancy one either!) I don’t think this guide would last very long. In addition, the description says “Adjustable…” Generally, adjustable guides have more than one width option for different types of bread, but this one only had one width, that I saw, so I’m not sure what it meant by “adjustable.” I didn’t have any instructions with mine, but the box doesn’t say “adjustable.” The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because it does have a nice, inexpensive (cheap 😉) price. It also becomes very compact, when taken apart for storage. As a possibility, you might glue the sides to the base, so they fit more securely, though the guides will still be flimsy. Therefore, carefully, slowly slice your bread, and it could work. However, there are better options available. 😉

Don't waste your money - flimsy garbage!
Look, I try to be gracious in all things, but this product is seriously GARBAGE! The pieces would not fit together, regardless of how I arranged them! I tried switching sides, turning them backwards, nothing worked and the sides ended up crooked and wonky. And even IF you could get the piece to sit in a functional way, the entire thing would end up sliding around while you attempted to slice your bread. This is just a no-go in all capacities. To add insult to injury, the return process is more difficult than other Amazon products. You can't just drop it off at a Staples, YOU have to come up with a box to pack it in. Even though the stupid thing came in a pouch inside a bubble envelope! Waste of money! Zero stars!

Whoa, don't compare apples and oranges
This cannot be compared with rigid bamboo non-collapsible full-loaf slicing guards. Nor can its price. If you bake your own bread and want to slice as needed, and not the whole loaf all at once, this unit is excellent. Not only can you do the job quite well with it, but takes up little room in the cabinet whether you disassemble it each time or leave it assembled and those were my only criteria which is why I'm pointing out it's suitability for specifically that. I do use a bread machine, but only for the dough cycle because I strongly prefer traditional size and shape loaves without any paddle holes in the middle of them. (It's very little extra trouble and super worth it.) Operationally, this unit works very well with a serrated bread knife, sawing back and forth evenly and gently, letting the knife rather than pressure slice the bread. When you get to the bottom, tilt your knife blade downward and scrape rather than cut the final division. Also, the slat openings are big enough so that you should rest your knife blade against one side or the other throughout the whole slice. Doing that, I get perfectly even, straight slices with no waves in them. I do remove each slice, cutting them one at a time. But this gives me solid control with no shifting. As for needing three hands, I position my thumb over one slat, my forefinger over the bread loaf and the rest of my fingers over the opposite side slat, and just hold everything steady. I personally love this little unit and as long as you don't treat it roughly, it should hold up fine. Another tip, my bread keeps extremely fresh, unwrapped, in a "Lock & Lock" container which is pretty darned airtight. Way more fresh than in any plastic bag I ever tried including those you buy. It actually retains the smell of a freshly-baked loaf and does not seem to mold any faster either.
