A business fable about excellence – from the bestselling author of The Energy Bus and The No Complaining Rule In the spirit of his international bestseller The Energy Bus , Jon Gordon returns with another inspirational business fable filled with invaluable lessons and insights on bringing out the best in leaders and teams. Training Camp follows the story of Martin Jones, a five-foot-seven rookie trying to make it to the bright lights and big money of the NFL. He's spent his whole life proving to the critics that a small guy with a big heart can succeed against all odds. After spraining his ankle in the preseason, Martin thinks his dream is lost. Just then he happens to meet a very special coach who shares nine life-changing lessons that keep Martin's dream alive…and might even make him the best of the best. Based on his work with professional sports teams, world-class sales organizations, and interviews with top professionals in a wide variety of fields, Gordon reveals the deep truths and proven strategies that get the best to the top of their game. Training Camp shows how the very best performers–whether it be in sports or in business–all share the same nine qualities. Among other traits, the best of the best are able to maintain a big-picture vision while taking zoom-focused actions, they are mentally stronger, they inspire excellence in the people around them, and they become the model by which others measure themselves. For anyone who wants to make it to the top of their field, Training Camp is a practical life-changing story with simple wisdom about what true excellence requires–and how anyone can achieve it.

This is a MUST BUY BOOK - Jon Gordon delivers yet another COMPELLING message in "Training Camp"!
If you just read the words of this book, it is about a guy trying to make it in the NFL - for me the sports analogy itself is engaging. However, open your mind and your heart to really HEAR what this book is SAYING. This book resonated with me and my life in a way I can't hardly put into words but I must say that Jon Gordon has had that impact on me since I first saw him speak LIVE in January 2009. I have read all of his books and each one speaks to me in its own way but "Training Camp" is the book that has the impact to make you realize that it is all about BEING YOUR BEST IN EVERY DAY LIFE.I bought this book for my entire work team as well as several of my family and friends - I have shared so much of what Jon Gordon has taught me with his words in 2009 with work colleagues, my family, my friends as well as people I meet in every day life. Anyone will enjoy the message that Jon delivers in this book if you OPEN your HEART and MIND to hearing how being the BEST is truly what MATTERS MOST.Take a look at Jon Gordon's website for many motivational "tools" which he offers; also see when Jon is speaking in a town near you...trust me, he is worth the time & money!! I've been in sales my whole life and seen a ton of different motivational type speakers but Jon is HANDS DOWN the BEST MOTIVATIONAL type speaker I've ever heard. God definitely put Jon Gordon on this earth to share his messages with the world - so THANK YOU JON for continuing to give your gift to all of us!! [...]

Great for teens and up!
You'll see this review for all the Jon Gordon books I read. I actually bought "Training Camp" first, because I wanted my daughter (competitive soccer player) to work on her mental game. I read it first to be sure it was appropriate for her age (15). Well, I loved it! I found many helpful things for me. I was getting in a rut at my job and after looking inside myself, it seemed as though I was always angry and frustrated. I reached a point where I decided to change my outlook on everything, and whatever happens externally, happens. After Training Camp, I read the entire Jon Gordon series. They are very easy reading, regardless of age level (teens and up). People might complain that his books are too basic, but if you don't need a PHD to understand something, why write it like you need one? Each book has very simple steps and/or lessons to move you in the right direction. They didn't all work for me, but they all changed my outlook. Great stuff!

Good but could do without the final chapters..
When I began reading this.. I think I went through 13 capters..IN THE BOOK STORE!.. OVerall a pretty good book..the motivating points are simple, easy to follow and very effective. The later chapters about Faith were something this book could do without.. it almost brought about a sense that all the Self building you learn in the begining of the book turns out to be not good enough..and you need religion to be complete. What about Atheists or Agnostics or people of other faiths who want to follow the motivating parts of this book? Its worth a read/reread though..

Inspirational, impactful, and motivational!!
This book will recharge and re energize you in all aspects of your life - in your work, your relationships, your family and your faith. Such an easy read that makes you think about how you've been living your life vs how you SHOULD be living your life! I would recommend this book to everyone, it is absolutely relatable to every single person and the life lessons it explores and discusses make so much sense you'll find yourself applying the principles of the best of best to every part of your life and wanting to share that message with the people around you!! Invigorating, refreshing and definitely a game changer!!!

Another great, modern day parable by Jon Gordon
I am a self-confessed book-a-holic, absorbing several books a month. Of the books I have read on success, at both the personal and business level (and easily adapted to other areas in life), I must say I thoroughly enjoy Jon's story approach. It is more than tips and techniques. His characters are easy to identify with and pull you in, making the ideas stick that much more in your mind. Much like a remarkable teacher 2000 years ago, the ideas are made simple to understand, and thereby more easily put into action in our lives. I would recommend this to anyone, and have put it on the to-read list for my own children.

Utter rubbish
This has to be the worst book I’ve ever read about self improvement ever, just utter crap on every page, beneath there are some nice messages but you have to dig so hard to find it when the rest of the writing is so full of pompous ‘god fixes all’ guff preached by the writer, the one section was just a full on American preacher scene with all the wailing and gnashing. I have respect for all beliefs and quite frankly this is just a flagrant abuse of the authors power to enforce he’s own belief on to others and that is a terrible message.
