Better than S*******
I have been using the S******* brand for years but their recent decision to only support their company branded hard drives and memory caused me to look elsewhere. I purchased this Asustor unit and couldn't be happier. I will now be purchasing and recommending this brand going forward.

Asustor tech support is terrible
Asustor tech support is only in Taiwan so you have to wait until the next day to receive responses to trouble tickets. They do not offer telephone support. I submit detailed tickets with log files and then after 24 hours will receive a reply to reboot the device. They dont provide any real tech support. The devices are not stable. They lock up easily. You have to purchase licenses to record cameras to the device. The surveillance center app frequently drops cameras, stops recording, and locks up.

Nice Hardware, Poor Software
I have had multiple occasions now that the Software/OS has failed to handle normal activities (Docker Containers, Locally installed apps from their service, etc..) that resulted in data corruption and loss of the volumes. OS needs work, and there are not alternatives that can be loaded from what I have found so far. Would look to one of the other more mature vendors for a turn-key or use a Opensource solution if you go the DIY route, I wish I had....

The worst NAS I have ever used.
I don't even know where to begin with this POS. SMB constantly disconnects. Crashes all the time. Loses drives no matter how many new ones I replace and the support is a joke - if you post a ticket they respond a week later asking for more information when you already provided the "health report" Absolute garbage.

I replaced a 4U NAS with this, and it’s a lot more convenient for home usage. I run 10x10Tb + 2x2Tb ssd cache. It’s a good NAS. Adm is intuitive. I upgraded ram, one Of the memory banks is difficult to access. Good performance.
