Best of Fleetwood Mac

I am an adult piano student, only taking lessons for 2 years. Fleetwood Mac is my favorite band, so I wanted a beginning piano book of their songs. This book is fine. The songs tend toward a beginner like me, although I can not just sit down and play the songs through in one sitting. I have to practice for sure. And the trickier key signatures are more of a challenge for me. Still, a good beginning piano book of songs for my favorite band that I can grow into with practice.

Incredible compilations. Easy & really fun to play. I appreciate the keys these are written in & how many classics are included.

I'm disappointed. The music is simple and doesn't always follow the lyrics. Basically, background music. I add notes. I don't play it very often.

Was es leistet: Es gibt jeweils eine einfache Melodie für die rechte und die linke Hand. Die der rechten Hand ist die Gesangsmelodie, die der linken Hand eine besonders vereinfachte Bassbegleitung. Mit einigen Monaten Erfahrung kann man hier also durchaus die Songs seiner Lieblingsband spielen. Die rechte Hand spielt manchmal mit zwei Fingern im Abstand einer Terz, also immer noch sehr einfach. Um den Songs gerecht zu werden, ist der Bass zwar melodisch einfach, doch hat er rhythmisch bereits ein mittleres Level. Ich empfehle sich als erstes diesen Rhythmus zu klatschen, bis man ihn verinnerlicht hat. Was es nicht leistet: Das ist kein Arrangement, das als Begleitung für den Gesang dient oder gar in einer Band gespielt werden könnte. Das Piano hat ja für jede Note ein fest definierte Tonhöhe. Das bleibt weit entfernt von den Klängen des Gesanges oder den Möglichkeiten der Gitarre. Die Freude ist also limitiert. Damit das Piano gut klingt, muss man Akkorde und Arpeggios einwerfen. Das entspräche einem mittleren Level. Dafür wird jedoch ebenfalls kein Arrangement geliefert. Der fortgeschrittene Spieler ist in der Lage diese Arpeggios und andere Formen der Mehrstimmigkeit zu improvisieren. Allerdings kann er solche Musik ohnehin nach dem Gehör spielen. Für ihn kann das Notenheft von Nutzen sein als Gedächtnisstütze, vergleichbar mit dem Real Book der Jazz-Musiker. Zusammenfassung: Das Notenheft richtet sich an Anfänger. Wer weiter ist, der langweilt sich hiermit. Er wird harmonisch unterfordert. Später kann es allerdings als Grundlage zur Improvisation dienen.

On the easier side which is exactly what I need as I am only 3 months into starting to learn piano.

Firstly, you get 12 classic Fleetwood Mac songs. I've only just purchased the book but I'm immediately struck that some of them are classic piano songs such as Songbird whilst others might be a less comfortable fit, such a Go Your Own Way which is perhaps best known as a guitar focused song. Time will tell. Although it has "Easy Piano" on the cover this is probably not the book for a complete beginner and particularly someone trying to learn on their own without a formal or informal teacher to help and guide them. For that purpose there are better books. And I speak from experience having decided to take up learning piano as an OAP to try and keep my brain active. If the books with a letter written in the note are level 1 for a complete beginner this is level 2 or 3 (there are things which you will need to google such as C(add2) as a variation of the C chord). But on the positive side the arrangements are reasonably simple and you get the whole of each song rather than just an extract although that also means the music for each song extends beyond two facing pages. I'm not regretting my purchase but as a complete novice I can see this will challenge me. But hopefully worth it in the end.
