I have used it to put line on several spools. As it comes the spool holder won't rotate about the long axis of the equipment but I put some washers in as spacers to allow this rotation which occurs when the equipment is held vertically. I got it to reduce twist on the fishing line using a fixed spool reel but I haven't been fishing yet. The extra spin means that a little more care is needed since the line can jump off the line spool. For multipliers or fly reels and centre pins the spacers aren't needed.
