The small numbers (clock) are about 7mm or 1/4" high. It works as I expected. First, set the clock to the precisely correct time. Then, for instance, to set it to countdown until New Years Day, I set days to 213. The hour, minute, and second set to midnight (00). Then when the clock strikes midnight, pushed the "Start" button. Then it immediately begins the countdown! Cool. I could imagine this would be entertaining for kids, so they could check exactly how much longer they must wait for some event they're looking forward to. Like a birthday, Christmas, vacation/holiday trip, or whatever. The batteries are included. Preinstalled, in fact. The CR2032 is a common size, and are easily accessible so battery replacement should be simple. It feels heavy and solid. The quality seems to be excellent. I mentioned its weight, and my only complaint is the magnets are not up to the task of holding it fast to any painted metal surface I tried. It’s fairly simple if you can do simple soldering. Change the solder jumper from option 1 to option 3. **Q: Does this have an alarm?** A: No alarm, just counts down to your desired day.
