Although the curtain is not completely waterproof (as it's made of non-peva material without any plastic or vinyl), water mostly beads up on the inside and dries before soaking through. It may be used alone, with a liner, or even as a liner for another curtain. Metal grommets (buckles / rings) are built into the curtain across the top for easy hook placement. The curtain comes with basic plastic hooks for hanging on the curtain rod, but more elegant hooks can easily be purchased separately. Small metal weights are sewn into the hem at the bottom, which reduces the amount of billowing from drafts. Some billowing may still occur with strong drafts, of course. The material is fairly thick at 90 gsm (grams per square meter). This type of material tends to resist mold or mildew buildup. The curtain is machine washable, though it is recommended to use cold water and a gentle cycle, and to air dry, or tumble low and remove promptly. The shower curtains are a good nylon fabric, weighted at the bottom but not heavily weighted. I like the fact they are nylon weave rather than a plastic as it should be washable and won't crinkle if folded and deteriorate like that.Might take note the grommet holes are not equally spaced if that makes a difference to you. In most cases using normally on a tub or shower it shouldn't make a difference, but if you're using it in an unorthodox use as I am doing it made a small difference which I had to account for.Also, if you're using the curtain rings that come with it and you're expecting fancy rings then you might want to order some nicer ones.But as for what I wanted and my uses, it was a great economical pick.
