For me, the actual color was paler than the comparison chart, but I could definitely tell if I was in ketosis or not. When you're trying to follow a ketogenic diet, this will help you determine if you are taking in too many carbs for the diet to work for you. I would give this 5 stars is the color chart on the side was a little paler, and the accompanying instructions had any info on what levels indicate your on plan with the diet. (Answer: "Trace" or above, any ketones in the urine indicate you're in ketosis, and actually a lack of them doesn't necessarily mean your not. A less convenient and more expensive blood test would, but not a urine test)I lost 5 pounds in the first 10 days or so, and the test strips help you to determine if you're on target or not. The weight loss, on the other hand is even a better indicator.
