Nicholson 8" Rectangular Double/Single Cut Axe File - 06706NN, Multi, One Size

There's nothing better than applying a good clean file to a dull old hachet, lawn mower blade, or what have you, and watching the edge quickly sharpen. This file cuts very nicely and put a heck of an edge on my mower blades. I like the handle - the curves very ergonomic, for a piece of flat metal. Get yourself a file card along with this file and keep it clean, and it will perform admirably for a long time.

This file works great for removing nicks in my axe bits. Occasionally, while maintaining my forest, I nick or chip an axe. I like to address the situation quickly, then finish the resharpening with a stone. This file is great at returning the bit to its proper shape - keeping me in action. I really like the single cut side/double cut side combo. I use one for fine work and the other for heavier repairs. It's great that they come together in one file. It fits right in my field tool box. Very handy and effective.

Put a great edge on my mower blade. But man it's exhausting lol. Think I'll just buy a grinder. But, solid file, seriously. Really easy to hold onto as long as you're wearing gloves. I'd probably opt for a 10 or 12 inch next time as this 8 inch is just a little bit too small for my use but, that's my problem not the files. For (currently) $12 it's such a good deal. I think once I can set a proper bevel on my mower blade with a grinder this will just be amazing for touchups. You won't find a better file at this price point. Great value.

Works great for sharpening axes and outdoor tools. The built in handle is appreciated as it saves space in my chainsaw bag.

I have access to old Nicholson files and I had heard that the new ones were not as good. I took a chance on this two sided file for sharpening axes. The file came oiled. I first hosed it down with brake cleaner to remove all oil and residue and it sharpened an Oschenkopf Iltis axe in less than 3 minutes to razor sharp. It cuts great. I’m very happy with the file. Just be sure to remove the oil, tap out the filings, and brush it out occasionally while filing. It cuts faster than my old Nicholson files. Highly recommend it.

Good product

Well shaped and good material removal when used on low carbon steel. All files wear out, so buy a couple of them.

Everybody whines about Nicholson files these days, IDK why. This is a great cutting, durable file that cuts great. I've used it on everything from axes to the spine of a stainless steel knife. Great file, decent price, I say buy one if you need it.

This is perfect to putting an edge back on your axe. You can run it like that or finish it off with a axe stone to get a paper cutting edge

Great file. Good for the workshop and small enough to carry around when away cutting. Neat and convenient. Cant buy in Australia. Thanks Amazon for having it available in store.
