Can a space heater with 2 prong plug be plugged into this safely?

Yes. You can plug in either two or three-pronged cords. SOME people love to cut off the third prong from cords--the "ground" prong. IF a cord comes with three prongs, please don't cut off the ground just to get it to work on outlets or receptacles or extension cords that have only two holes. It will still seem to work, BUT the SAFETY is at Risk. -- Again, yes, your space heater will work with this.
