If you want the best then look elsewhere, but these aren't the worst either. The hinges are solid brass but not the screws. (plated). I won't buy these again but I made them work.

Very Nice, but.......
These hinges look very nice and add a touch of classy to your piece. However, be prepared for a tricky installation. As mentioned by others the screws are small and strip out very easily. Pre-drilling and priming the hole with a slightly larger steel screw helped, but it was still touch-and-go. In fact I had to use most of the screws from the other pairs of hinges that are included in the order to get just 2 of hinges installed.

Well machined. Solid brass. Comes with 1 extra screw per pair. Great price.

Really solid brass. Bought these twice
I'm using these on a treasures box for my 5 year old grand daughter. I felt the original screws (#2 x 1/2) were not quite sturdy enough for her use. I used a countersink tool, Irwin, 1/4 inch (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IZFHSI4?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1) to open up the screw holes a little so I could use aftermarket #4 x 3/4 screws. In doing so, I can see that the hinges are in fact solid brass, not plated, or other monkey business. No problem with the supplied screws, but in poplar, just not enough grab to keep the lid on a 5 year old's treasures box.
