Works
My daughter started scratching her head on Sunday. On Monday morning, we found the lice. I had no idea what to do, this was our first ever encounter with lice. Our pediatrician called in a prescription for a lice treatment, but it wasn't in stock. While I was at the pharmacy, I found this (Nix Ultra). Bought 3 bottles (crazy expensive at there compared to Amazon). I didn't even check my other two daughters, but wasn't taking any chances. Treated our entire family that morning. The solution is easy to use. I saturated everyone's heads, rubbed it in really well so that every, single hair and entire scalp was completely covered. Everyone sat with the stuff on their heads for way longer than the directed 10 minutes while I did everyone. Rinsed it off and dead stuff was falling out of Patient Zero's hair while we rinsed. Washed everyone's hair with dish soap (great tip from other reviewers). Used the included combs to section off and comb out everyone's hair. Didn't really see anything else in anyone's hair at that point. Pulled everyone's bedding, clothing, pajamas, coats, and all towels, etc and started a massive, never-ending laundry party. That took ALL DAY and the laundry wasn't even close to being done. Grabbed clean sleeping bags and extra pillows and had everyone find a spot on the floor to sleep- FAR AWAY FROM ONE ANOTHER- in a not-often used area of the house- I wasn't taking any chances of any live lice crawling from their beds back into their hair. Next day, did quick morning head checks (didn't see anything) and continued laundry. Researched (and could've earned a doctorate by the time I was done) lice removal. Ordered terminator lice combs and a large lighted magnifying glass (the magnifying glass is an important tool that not many people mentioned). That night, I went through everyone's hair, practically strand by strand. One daughter had one live louse and several eggs in one spot. I retreated her head with the Nix ultra immediately. Nothing else crawling in anyone else's heads, but some nits and dead things. Everyone had greasy hair, but that took care of the lice. Washed everyone's bedding again. Moved to another location for sleeping again that night. (Not risking any live lice transferring back to heads). The third day, I combed through everyone's hair again, practically strand by strand, and used the magnifying glass (seriously, get a large, lighted magnifying glass). It took HOURS to do everyone's hair, but totally worth the time. Found a few really small nit eggs that would never have been found if not for the magnifying glass. Hopefully, they were all dead. Nothing crawling. Fourth day, everyone appears to be lice free. I can't imagine that I missed anything, but will continue to check every night and do the retreatment in a few days, just in case. I hope that was our first and only-ever encounter with lice. The stuff works, but definitely comb out thoroughly every night, in case anything was missed.

Nix is affordable & worth the $$
It works very well but I have a king size bed & after vacuuming mattress you do have to repeat process in 7-9 days & I bought two bottles but it works & it's ALOT of work for a single person & I rather be safe than sorry. I'm mostly bedridden for health issues & my daughter brought lice by just laying on my bed & furniture fabric & I can only imagine what I would do if I had children b/c it's ALOT of work & this product works & the smell isn't bad as I thought it would be. Good luck!♡

Kills Some Lice, Can Cause Reaction
I would give this product 4 stars but with some caveats. As far as louse-killing abilities it definitely killed all of the adult louses on my daughter's head, which made combing them out easier. It did not kill all of the nymphs and eggs; I have been continuing to wet comb her hair every 1-2 days and we still are combing out a couple nits. I wouldn't expect any of the current products on the market to get rid of all the full grown lice, nymphs, and nits in one application anyway, but just wanted to note this. The comb with the kit works okay, but I highly recommend getting a better quality comb because the one in the kit just won't catch all of the tiny nymphs and nits. I suggest the nit free terminator comb or the licemeister comb as a companion to this stuff. The stuff itself is extremely oily/greasy and you probably won't be able to get it all out of your/your child's hair until the 3rd or 4th washing after using it, so be prepared to have greasy hair for a bit. It eventually does come out. The biggest caveat is that my kids reacted to this stuff in the form of a red, burning rash. One of my kids it was more subtle on her neck/ears. But my youngest was getting a red, hive-ey rash on her cheeks up to her eyes for a couple days after treatment. My suggestion would be to coat their neck and ears with vaseline before you use this product to help minimize rash/irritation from the product and/or soap (which is hard to wash out the first few times after the treatment is used). It did help to give them Benadryl while the rash was active and uncomfortable. I know that people can get itchy/rashy from the lice bites, but this rash only developed after use of the product, so I think it was a reaction to the ingredients in it. Granted it's not a pesticide, but people can still react to things even if they aren't pesticidal. Other than those caveats I would recommend this as part of your treatment process if your child has a decent infestation. For a very small infestation I would probably skip this and just do the wet combing.

Didn't work like I hoped it would
I think they changed the formula because it seems to have worked better a few years ago when we used it
