I love these beans
Admittedly, I have only ever used these coffee beans to make my cold brewed iced coffee, so I can't attest to the experience when prepared hot. That being said, I originally tried this product because I was looking for decent priced coffee beans in bulk, and absolutely fell in love with the flavor. I'm in law enforcement, so I drink coffee like it's going out of style. I'm fickle about my coffee. I work 90+ hours a week, so coffee is basically breath to me. After partaking of the swill that ends up in the breakroom coffee pot, I reverted back to brewing my own at home, and with my multiple 16 hour shifts, cold brewing became my choice of brewing to have enough coffee to last me through my shifts. But... cold brewing gets expensive. It takes more grounds to seep and cold brew coffee than it does to make a simple pot of coffee. I discovered Don Pablo when I was searching for bulk beans. I fell in love after the first shipment. I've experienced a wide range of coffee styles. My Dad was a truck driver, I owned a restaurant, and I've worked for millionaire construction contractors. Three industries of "how's the coffee?". Don Pablo has been my go-to since I discovered it. The packaging is superb. I typically order a 5-pound bag of roasted whole beans that typically lasts me almost 2 months. The resealable bag keeps the beans as oily and glossy from the first day I open it to the last. It's all about the oils. If your beans are dry, you lost the game. The flavor is robust, yet very smooth, not overpowering or bitter. I grind the medium roast. I prefer medium roast when I brew hot, but the Don Pablo medium-dark is perfect for my cold brew. It's smooth, not brackish. I ran out of Don Pablo a while back. I bought a few bags of different roasts of beans from different stores, just to get by until my shipment arrived. The roasts I bought at the Box Stores were bland, dry, and had off-flavors. Now they're just sitting in my coffee cabinet, waiting for me to unload them when a fair-weather friend comes to visit and I can get rid of those subpar beans. I probably wouldn't write such an intricate review if it weren't for that fact that I drink Don Pablo every day and it's become a part of my day. Seven days a week. I cold-brew Don Pablo twice a week, to get me through a work week, that I drink over a 12-cup pot of it every day. I cold brew it, throw it over ice, and it's robust enough to last through a 16-hour shift in my thermos and be as good to the last drop as it was from the first.

I was happily surprised that this is not cheap quality coffee.
Edit- May 28, 2020 After reviewing my Amazon Order history, I saw that this month is the 3 year anniversary from our first purchase of Don Pablo coffee beans. We have been enjoying the delicious medium-dark roast of their Signature Blend exclusively for three years now. The beans always arrive very fresh and aromatic. They are a rich dark roast that is not over roasted and burnt (as in the *bucks beans). We use a Saeco super-automatic machine and the Don Pablo beans are not oily at all and they work very well with the machine. Not many products can continue to be produced for years maintaining excellent quality, but Don Pablo does it on every single order. EDIT 1- May 2018: As this is part of my Prime Subscription, I have now received Don Pablo beans for about a year. All I can say is that this is the best coffee for the $ you can buy. I've had a lot of other beans that are 3 or 4 times the price, but they sure are not 3 or 4 times the quality. These beans are very tasty and when you go through a lot of coffee, they won't require a bank loan to pay for them. Original Review: I'm not sure what I expected when ordering some really cheap coffee. But I was happily surprised that this is not cheapo convenience store battery acid coffee. This is a nice medium body coffee with great aroma and very low acid. It makes a fine cup of coffee or lighter espresso. For the money, you would be hard pressed to find a better coffee bean.

Great Coffee After Some Tinkering
For the price, I figured why not give it a try. At first, I didn't like it too much. I really wanted to, as I'm tired of paying out the nose for good coffee beans. After I figured out that you need a COOLER temperature of your water for darker roasts, letting it get down to 180-190, this coffee tasted MUCH better. If you get the signature blend, make sure you are letting your water cool longer than a normal medium roast. The coffee itself should have notes of caramel, chocolate, and earthiness when you make it correctly. If your water is too hot (like mine was at first), it'll taste TOO earthy, little like dirt. Sometimes a little adjustment of your brewing variables can go a long way. That is why I use a french press, so that I can adjust any variable I need to (over a drip machine). What I do to make this coffee awesome (16 oz cup of coffee): - A pot of a little over 2 cups of water goes on to boil. - Grind 4 heaping TBSP of beans. - Once the water is at a boil, I pour a bit into my press to heat it up a bit. - I cool the water for 1 min and 30 seconds with the lid off of the kettle (yeah, not super precise but that time works for me). - Dump french press of pre-heating water, dump in grounds. - Pour water over grounds. Doesn't matter if they all get wet at this point, and doesn't seem to matter if I pour slowly or fast. Keep things simple. - Set timer for 4 minutes. - Stir grounds gently for 30 seconds (this will ensure that all of the grounds get wet). - Once 4 minutes are up, slowly plunge (should take 20-30 seconds to get to the bottom). - Pour into into cup right away. TIP ON NO SLUDGE IN YOUR COFFEE: Don't pour in all of the liquid. That's it. Everybody seems to have a different method for reducing sludge. Plunge slowly, and don't pout in all of the liquid. Some people say don't drink your last sip, some people say spoon off some grounds before you plunge (messy), just do as I say and resist the urge to put ALL of the liquid in your cup. The grounds like to sink to the bottom of the coffee liquid, so just leave them in the french press where they belong.

THE RICHEST FLAVOR
This is the BEST coffee! The big C store suddenly stopped carrying it. We tried others and we're not happy. So glad that we found this wonderful rich whole bean blend from this carrier on Amazon. They delivered a fresh product promptly. Hope it continues to be available. We start every day with this delicious Don Pablo.

Best coffee we have ever drunk! (¡El mejor café que hemos tomado!)
We can't remember at what age our family gave us the first small cup of espresso coffee ("Cuban coffee" is no more than that). Since we came to America we have tried the different Cuban brands of coffee that are produced here in America_ Pilón, Bustelo, Naviera, etc.; La Llave was our favorite and we began to brew exclusively that one once we tried it. As we have very close friends from Colombia here in Florida, we began to drink in their homes Colombian coffee, that they brewed as espresso to satisfy our taste and also, every time they visit Colombia they came back with Colombian coffee for us as gifts (Juan Valdez, La Bastilla, Matiz, and of course, all of them full body, dark roast and finely grounded). We already knew the quality of the coffee from some countries as Brazil, Jamaica, Guatemala and of course, from Colombia. That's the reason why we decided to try the Don Pablo's Signature Blend just because it is a blend of coffee beans from Brazil, Colombia and Guatemala. We bought a 2 pounds bag at our nearest Costco Warehouse center. We grounded as turkish because it's medium dark and usually for espresso the coffee is roasted dark (if you are buying whole bean coffee I assume you know the relationship among darkness, the kinds of "grinds" and the methods of brewing, so I won't explain about that here; but if you don't know, then I strongly recommend you to inquire in any way before buying whole coffee beans). The flavor of this blend when brewed is exquisite, the roasted beans looks very fresh because they are oily, and the smell of the beans are very deep, intense, and delicious. Now we feel espresso ground coffees as "quemados" (over-roasted). For more than two years in a row we have been only brewing Don Pablo's Signature Blend at home. Our colombian friends are very delighted with it too. Unfortunately, Costco closed the nearest warehouse from home and opened another one so far that it didn't make sense to keep the membership. That's the reason why we decided to buy Don Pablo in another place and we found it here in amazon.com. With the money we expend here to buy a 5 pound bag we could buy in Costco approximately only 2 bags of 2 pounds each one. But, as this is a whole coffee beans bag and it's not sold here ground (buying it ground from Burke Brands LLC is more expensive and we must pay S&H and here in amazon.com we paid Prime, we needed an electric coffee grinder too. After we made our research online, we concluded that an electric coffee grinder to get a good quality ground coffee for Turkish or espresso coffee is very expensive (the reviews for the cheaper ones for Turkish or espressos are negatives) we decided to buy an small manual grinder of enough quality to get what we want, so we bought a manual Japanese Ceramic Coffee Mill Skerton that makes the job great (see it in the photograph). We also enjoy the smell when grounding... Of course, a manual mill is very good for Turkish or espresso because you use a small amount of coffee each time you brew coffee for bigger quantities it's time consuming and tedious. I would like to suggest to Burke Brands to sell small amounts (bags) of each coffee so we could test them without expending too much money. Thank you Don Pablo for being in this business! CINCO ESTRELLAS!

Smooth Bold Flavor compares well to higher priced coffee
Well, we have found our favorite coffee beans! My wife and I have been buying coffee beans from a monthly coffee club for several years and were satisfied with the price and the Tully's Blend coffee which was a great medium roast coffee bean. We were happy with that and saw no reason to change until they discontinued that blend from the service so we started looking around for an alternative. We did not want to spend more money for coffee each month, but were spoiled a little with the smooth but bold flavor. We found the Don Pablo Gourmet Coffee Signature Blend on Amazon and ordered a two-pound bag for a taste experiment. Wow, what a great tasting coffee at an even LOWER price than what we were spending before. Now we can have a great bold, but smooth coffee without the bitterness that grocery store brands have. We are not giving up anything that we like in a coffee but we are actually saving money each month by putting it on auto-ship and ordering 3 Two-pound bags each month. (as you can see we drink a lot of coffee) We don't drink, smoke, or chew, or date girls who do :-), so this is one of our only indulgences and we are thankful to God for making the coffee plant, and Don Pablo company for preparing a great product from it. IF the quality drops off, or things change such as a price increase, I will update this review. If they slowly raise the price as I have had with other auto-ship products, I will have to look elsewhere, but for now we will be buying this brand. Chris

No bitter taste very high-quality coffee at a decent price
This coffee is amazing and I love good coffee, not cheap coffee. This comes in whole beans so I can grind it when I’m ready and there’s no bitter taste. It is amazing and is my favorite new coffee better than the Italian coffees that I purchase. The quality is Amazing and the freshness is perfect because it comes in a wonderful bag to keep it fresh. I love the fact that it’s organic and I am in love with the taste and I bought the regular.

geht so
