Yes there is a slider for mic on or off on the cord of the headset so you can mute yourself you can also turn the headset volume down or up aswell

Do they light up when plugged into the Nintendo switch?

The headset has 2 plugs. It a headset jack that plugs into the controller, and a usb plug. The headset jack when used alone plugged into a controller does not light the headset, but when the usb is plugged to the console itself, it lights the headset. hope this helps!
