A great product for road warriors and long conference calls
I presume that the version of this product designed for Skype works just as well. I've been a fan of Polycom for a long time and for years have used a Polycom SoundPoint Pro SE-220. As someone that doens't like headsets a great speaker phone is very important to me. But the switch to digital VOIP found me using my SoundPoint less and less. The Polycom communicator is the perfect replacement for the digital age. It works perfectly with my Office Communicator set up--even the RC version of Microsoft Lync--which is what I'm using it with now. I just plug it into my computer and go--it's a perfect speakerphone and it's smaller enough and comes with a great case so I can travel with it too. Coupled with a pair of your favorite headphones or ear buds for when you can' use a speakerphone and you've got a perfect set up that takes up no more space than a portable USB drive. My only wish list would be for the device to have a keypad. All the buttons work perfectly but a physical keybad would be great. I purchased this on Amazon using PRIME and found the price to be very competitive. Highly recommended if your someone that spends alot of time on the phone with VOIP solutionsbut can't stand headsets or bluetooth devices. I use this product with Windows 7 and it's plug and play and auto-recognized, I would expert it works equally well with Vista and Windows XP but that you may manually need to install drivers on XP.

Reliability, Portability, Ease of Use - Get one of these
I've had the CX-100 for over three years now and its easily one of the best, most reliable pieces of technology I've ever used. I use it daily on Lync and Skype for Business calls, both from my home office and on the road at clients. Here are the big reasons why the CX-100 is so great: 1) Reliability - Since the CX-100 plugs into a USB port, I never have to worry whether I have enough charge for a long meeting. And I've put a lot of mileage on this thing and it keeps on ticking. When I connect the CX-100, Lync and now Skype for Business immediately recognize it. And the audio quality is perfect. 2) Easy Controls - The simple controls with the big buttons on the front are very intuitive. I like having the mute button prominent in the center. The big red or green LED circle which shows muting status is fantastic. At a glance from across a room, I can see if I'm on mute. 3) Portability - Polycom obviously put a lot of thought into how road warriors would use the CX-100. The kickstand puts it at the perfect angle in use but folds to cover the coiled up USB cable when you travel. I like my CX-100 so much, I'm thinking of a getting a second one for my travel bag.

I've been using one of these for 5 years with ...
I've been using one of these for 5 years with no trouble whatsoever, then I noticed the insulation on the cord was starting to break so I ordered a replacement - same exact model and supplier. The new one lasted less than 2 months and the mike must be messed up because people kept complaining that I was breaking up --- I swapped to the old one no more problems. ----otherwise I would give it 5 stars - because it does really work extremely well(except for the lemon I got)......very very sensitive mike. I use constantly for work. I would highly reccommend

Not sure I would recommend, especially given the price
I had one of these with my previous job, supplied by my employer. It worked pretty well, actually, with the Microsoft Lync technology. It was tightly integrated and worked well for conference calls. I'm starting to think that this device is best avoided if you are not exclusively using Lync. (That said, myself and a lot of my former coworkers would periodically have these things die on us...I think my employer ended up replacing several of them.) Fast forward a few months, and I'm starting to use Skype a lot more...I remembered this Polycom device, which is hands free, and allowed me to walk across the room and keep talking without people on the other end really noticing. Long story short, I have not been happy with my decision to purchase one of these for Skype use. I get a lot of echo problems, and I get a lot of chopping up of the conversation unless I am constantly using the Mute button. I also can't get up and walk around the room like I could with Lync...I have to stay in my chair, two feet from the thing. I might has well have bought a much cheaper wired headset if I have to stay in my chair. If you are not a Microsoft Lync/Communicator user, think twice about this Polycom speakerphone device. You may not get the quality you are used to with the Polycom speakerphones you see in conference rooms all the time. I've been having enough call quality problems with this thing that I've about given up on it. I only wish I had decided this before my review period expired. I think my next step is to shell out money again for a wireless headset that explicitly claims to work well with Skype. Skype-to-skype, one on one, it does OK. But dial out to a phone number, or join a group call, and you will likely have call quality problems.

Deceptive advertising
The newer CX-100 is designed to be used with Microsoft's Office Communicator 2007 (MOC) client. So says the description and reviews I saw. I liked the configuration of the device as well as the "plus" reviews, so I bought one to try. Sadly "designed" must mean "only" as there are no drivers (and they're required!) for anything BUT MS OCS. I had intended to use this product with WebEx, not possible unless you also have a licensed, installed copy of OCS (I have the program but do not want to 'waste' a license just to see if it works). Fairly loose interpretation of the word "Designed"! Beware!

Worked Great, Then Went Down Hill
It was awesome, like everyone else on here says. Then just like all those bluetooth headsets from jabra and the like, it became unusable. So much so that the quality I get from the internal mic on the laptop is better than this speakerphone. Dear phone accessory companies, why do your mics go bad?.....Still waiting for an answer.

Superior Sound
Pros: Superior sound and clarity vs. laptop mic & speakers Cons: Not all button functions work with Windows 7, but this isn't a deal breaker If you rely on Skype or other internet programs to communicate, and you need a speakerphone vs. headset, then the CX100 is a MUST. I rely on Skype for my business communications, and my laptop Mic & Speakers were just not cutting it. This speakerphone maintains Polycom's brand reputation for solid equipment, and the resulting sound quality is just excellent. The unit has a solid feel, and the USB cord is built in and self contained within the back of the unit--in other words, you won't have to worry about losing the USB cord during a road trip. The CX100 came with a vinyl carry case, and it is compact enough to slip into my briefcase for road trips. I was hesitant at first about springing $100 for a speakerphone solely to be used my laptop, but it has proven to be worth the investment as my group teleconferences with clients and remote sales people are crystal clear. Note that I run Windows 7, and not all the built-in buttons work (like cancelling the call); that said, it is not a deal breaker since I control all functions via the laptop anyway. Volume control still works on the CX100 so I'm happy. I'd highly recommend this to anyone in need of a portable, high quality speakerphone for use with Skype or Google Chat.

Excellent for Live meeting and communicator
I purchased this Polycom CX100 USB speakerphone so that I could hold a conference call from my laptop using live meeting or Microsoft communicator as quite often I end up in a small conference room or in my office with 3 or 4 people and no way to easily include them in the call. Using speakers and a microphone never works well with feedback and echoes so I thought I would give this a try. The day after it arrived I was on a plane to visit a remote site and sitting on a conference call using a land line and and regular speaker phone the connection was terrible we tried a number of times to improve the call but in the end I hooked up the CX100 to my laptop and connected to my college via communicator and the quality was excellent, even in a large conference room we could here him perfectly and he said the sound was great and no echo. Just today in a training session the trainer was having problems with the set up so I hooked him up with the CX100 and with three people remote and 15 in the room again the sound was excellent on both ends. On windows 7 just plug in the device and it is recognized and becomes the default for communicator and live meeting. There are 2 buttons on the from of the device with icons that indicate call and hang up but do nothing so I rate it a 4 on features. Otherwise this is a perfect device and I'm sure it would work just as well with skype or any other voip through a computer. Definitely recommend.

Excellent speaker and mics
I needed a desk top speakerphone for my Cisco soft phone as was spending hours in calls with a headset. after a bit of research settled on this one. Although it does say it is optimised for Lync it will work with the Cisco communicator soft phone too. I had a bit of hassle setting it up, but seems much if that was down to me plugging it into a USB hub rather than direct to the laptop.. Once direct connected it worked fine with windows 7. Comes with a nice case and the cable stores in the back of the unit itself too. Not cheap, but for me it does what I wanted and expect it to last...

Genial!

Consegna come sempre veloce.

You have to be careful when wrapping the cable around the back of the unit - the cable is thin & fragile & my previous one of these shredded which it really shouldn't do.
