I was reluctant to buy another brand's velvet hangers on amazon because reviews mentioned that several hangers came already broken, or broke while attempting to hang a shirt on it for the first time. I noticed these amazon basics hangers and knew I'd want to give them a try, not only for the lower price, but also for the great quality I associate with amazon. All 50 arrived in perfect condition. No breaks, tears in the velvet, or damage. I spent about 30 minutes rehanging my clothes on these and dropped them multiple times in the process and had my cat (and self) step all over them with no problem. The reason I came back to this page today was to order another box of 50. Update 4/21/14: I've been using these hangers for the past 2 months with no issues. I hang dry all of my tops and dresses directly out of the washer, and the wet garments have not affected the velvet on these hangers. Another pro I've noticed is that the metal can be rotated, which is great because my boyfriend can't seem to hang anything in the proper direction, so I just spin the top around and everything faces the same direction in my closet. Update 7/20/14: I've had these for 5 months with not a single issue. Not one broken hanger. I upped my review to 5 stars. Buying another set. I will not stop until everything I own is on one of these. Final update 3/4/15: It's been over a year. Can't tell the new hangers from the old hangers. Boyfriend that hangs garments in the wrong direction is now fiance that hangs garments in the wrong direction. I still swivel the top.

I needed new hangers so I decided to go ahead and try the Amazon brand since they're known for their quality, and man, these are great. You'd be surprised with how much space you'll save using these versus the standard, bulky plastic ones. These are very thin and light, and although I only bough one order of 50, they take up about the third of the space of the previous hangers I've had. I'm going to place my second order after writing this review. I had no problems with the condition I received them in. They were packaged neatly in an easy to open cardboard box and the hangers themselves were placed in easy to rip open plastic in two bags of 25 each. They were all facing the same way and put together neatly so it was super easy to just take them out and begin hanging my clothes with them. There was barely any lint or debris on the hangers themselves when I received them or any noticeable defects. I've had them since July of last year and they're still doing great. I drop them all the time because of my clumsiness and I'll admit, there are some currently on the floor right now due to it being laundry day. I've stepped on them on accidentally, I've even laid down on one that was hiding between my comforter and they're still unbent and doing fine. If it was the plastic ones that I had before, it would've broken and stabbed me and I probably wouldn't be alive today to write this. If I absolutely HAD to say something negative about them, it's that you have to remember these are velvet, so if you accidentally drop them on your carpet sometimes (like I do) you might have some fuzz get stuck to them. That's easily solved by getting a lint roller and running it over them a few times though. I haven't really noticed any lint from my clothes rubbing off on them either, so all in all it's definitely a good investment. Also, I know these can't hang folded pants, but amazon has the velvet hangers that have the bottom portion of the hanger as well as those little add on clips. I personally fold my pants, so I like these hangers best. You save money, space, and your closet will look better visually by having slim, uniform hangers as opposed to mismatched, bulky, plastic hangers that break if you step on them and will become worn out and discolored over time. These are sturdy, but don't burden your clothes rack heavily and will hang everything wonderfully. What's even betters is that they're great for those articles of clothing that love to slide off the plastic hangers. The velvet holds them securely so that they won't drop off. No more waking up in the middle of the night scared shitless because you heard something fall inside your closet. That reason alone should have you adding this item to your cart. After using them for half a year, they still look brand new and are still performing wonderfully. These are a wonderful price, the quality is great, and I assure you that using these will definitely make a difference for the better.

Not much to say, they look good, and are of consistent quality. They are DEFINITELY non-slip though. Which is nice once they are on, but getting them on was a pain in the butt for the majority of my shirts. I ended up just starting to put them in my shirt from the bottom home, versus sliding it through the neck hole.

My wardrobe is looking very smart, well apart from the actual clothes unfortunately, thanks to these lovely hangers. They appear quite fragile, but I have had a heavy suede coat hanging on one hanger for a while and the hanger hasn't buckled at all. The hook is firmly turned to the side, but I prefer that to a swivelly hook. Clothes hang well on the hangers and (obviously) don't slip off. I put my clothes straight on to the hangers out of the washing machine, and hang them over a door to dry, or on the washing line, and they have been fine. It takes a second longer to put clothes onto the hanger and removing them from it. But it's worth it for the lovely hangers.

Bought them in Canada and France and now the UAE. Always great.
