Good smelling soap
The Dr squatch soap works really well it has a material that scrapes on your skin when using it and leaves your body feeling refreshing. And has really good scent. It's a little pricey but worth it.

An Step Up From Other Soaps!
This is really excellent soap! There is very little comparison between this soap and most of the other handmade soap options out there. Even though there are a number of "hand made" soaps on the market and many of them are excellent, this soap is still one of the best I've ever used. Not only do the natural benefits of a pine tar soap shine through, but the added benefits of the exfoliating sand and the other natural ingredients make it a bit of a game changer. (Which is an interesting term to be applied to a product that is based on a good, old-fashioned, natural recipe and not some funky new chemical additive.) I find it interesting that some reviewers mention the scent... While there is a mild pine scent (which is both pleasant and TERRIBLY manly in my opinion), the scent is not overpowering in any way. I honestly don't understand any of the comments on it being a "strong" scent. Any scented soap out there has more of a lingering scent to it than this... even "unscented" ones often have more of a fragrance than this particular soap. As far as the cleaning and exfoliating properties, they do the job very well... as they should. The pine tar and other ingredients leave my skin feeling fresh and clean without any drying (a big thing when you live in a dry climate like Denver!), and the sand that is impregnated into the bar is just enough to give the soap some "grit" without seeming like it is sandpaper. If you are buying this soap to help with skin conditions, I can only speak from second-hand experience. My wife and daughter have issues with psoriasis and other than a very expensive mud that you can get from the dead sea, a good pine tar soap (like this one) is far and away the best treatment either of them has ever used... and considering the low cost and easy delivery through Amazon, it is not even a contest as to what they prefer to use on a daily basis. (BTW... if you need a good pine tar shampoo, try Heritage Store Hair Shampoo, Pine Tar, 12 Ounce , it is to shampoos what this soap is to medicated hand soap. And last but not least, even though it doesn't have any effect on the quality of the soap... the company is great! They have a cute little email blurb that they send you from Amazon after you have ordered that tells the story of how Sasquatches (Sasquatch-ie?) slave-away lovingly to make the soap for you... it is a minor marketing thing, but I found it surprisingly endearing that the company wants to give you a great product as well as a chuckle or two... Kudos!

If you can overlook how quickly to goes, get this soap!
After going through one bar, I think I’m about ready to form a complete opinion. Below, I’ll be rating this product based on a couple of categories, for your convenience. Lather: I think any bar of soap should be able to lather well. I’m happy to report this soap does a great job; maybe too great. I feel it almost immediately turn into a lather as it glides over my skin. I’ll touch on that bit later on. Rating: 5/5 Fragrance: This is one of the manliest smelling soap I’ve ever used. It’s like your bathroom suddenly transforms into a damp forest, and you’re able to breathe in the fresh wilderness. Of course, I’m talking about the pine tar scented one. I’ve yet to try the other soap, but I will update this should I try them. Rating: 5/5 Skin: How well your skin reacts to your soap is probably the most important factor you should consider when purchasing. I have fairly sensitive skin, yet I see no adverse reaction when using this product. My skin also stays nice and soft and smelling great after use. Your mileage may vary so do take note. Rating: 5/5 Affordability: This is sadly where I have to change my tone. I like to lather up nicely when showering. My first bar lasted about 15 days of use. For reference, I am 6’2”, fairly muscular, so there is plenty of surface area to cover. Still, I’ll be spending maybe $20 a month just on soap. You can literally see the bar of soap decrease in size with use. I am not exaggerating. For that reason, this sadly can’t score well. Rating: 3/5 Overall, this is one of the best products in this category I’ve used. The fragrance is great, it lathers well, it has many great essential oils, it’s plain great. What’s not great is that price, at least for the use you get out of it. It’s truly a pity because of how great a bar of soap this is. If you don’t mind spending may be over $20 a month on soap, consider this product. While it doesn’t last as long as I’d wish, it truly is great soap Rating: 3.6/5

WTF....Excellent.
OK, so this is just insane soap. Smells really good but key is to rinse quickly and not stay in the water after using or the great smell will run off. The soap lathers like if you installed a water softener on a hard water line so it is worth the buy for that part. At the price I think it is on the high side but it is good soap without the harsh stuff so you pretty much paying for the high life. Remember that you must rinse off quickly and not camp out on the shower or the smell will seriously run off, no bs. I did use it only one time so I wanted to test it but normally that should be enough to keep you smelling good but because I stayed in the shower with running water at 120 degrees maybe the smell ran off my pores hahaha.... I was told that this soap is being mass produced so that could be it but because I dont use this and this is my first time I can't really say its crap soap. Im a first time buyer and I think this is more of a $5 soap because the smell is not close to your commercial ad. I give it a 7 out of 10, but I will not buy again only for the fact that the hype was that it smelled good, the problem is it was for like 2 minutes..... Have to say dirt smells better longer.....lol

Not What I Expected, but it's still good
I finally caved in and bought this after seeing ad upon ad and video upon video of this soap bar, and a plethora of compliments on this soap bar. I think this Pine Tar scent is overplayed. I first got it and from the commercials; "The garden of Eden" and a girl mentioning she was staying for breakfast from the way it smelled on the commercial had me thinking "okay, this is going to smell really good". First thoughts: It does smell pretty good, however it did remind me of a grandpa cologne at first but I quickly shook that thought from my mind. I was also hoping that this bar of soap will last pretty long and that I won't have to buy another bar next week for $10. Initial Use: This bar is pretty abrasive but tolerable like taking salt in your hand and rubbing it on your skin (weird analogy right?) Anyways, I was not able to get it to lather up very well at all like in the commercial, barely any lather. It did turn the water black a little bit and left some black residue on me during passes (it rinsed off, so I am not concerned about it). My skin does feel refreshed and softer from the exfoliation caused by the bar. In conjunction with this soap bar, I also bought the Anwenk wooden soap holder thing for $6 to lay the Pine Tar bar on top of after rinsing it to help it last longer. Will update on occasion for how long it lasts. UPDATE 7/11/19: The picture shows 16 days worth of the bar of soap with no more than 30 seconds of lather for use. I rinse it, shake the water off and set it on the wooden thing. It smells and feel really nice, but $20 a month for a bar or soap is pretty expensive.

Want to shower with crushed pine bark in soap form? Look no further
The short of it: I've been looking for a go-to soap for awhile, and this one is good enough that I might stick with it. Smells like pine, has a pleasing gritty texture, and for me at least, it's held up over time. The major critique I read in the reviews before purchasing was short longevity. I haven't really had that problem, in my experience. My bar has lasted about 3 weeks so far with a good amount still to go. It's on a rack hanging off the showerhead. If your shower would put the bar in range of water drops constantly flying off the shower, I imagine it would break down faster (another Dr. Squatch bar kept on a different rack has degraded more quickly, but that's not a Pine Tar so I'm not sure it's equivalent). Also important is how it's used. I usually lather up my hands instead of directly using the bar. This exposes it to less water and I think has contributed to its longevity. If you use it directly, the soap in between the solid exfoliating particles is more likely to get washed away quickly, and the bar will break down. That said, one of the major pluses of this soap is the texture. The sand/gritty stuff gives it a rough texture that's useful for exfoliation. Wakes you up a little better than your average, too. Regarding scent, it pretty much smells like pine. Truer to the smell of a pine tree than a lot of other "pine" scented products out there, but not perfect. Not quite Pine-Sol levels of bracing, but not as smoothly aromatic as real pine sap either. It's somewhere in between. I think it's pleasant in the shower, but if you prefer subtle scents, this isn't for you. Personally, I like a bit of a jarring in my morning shower, kind of like coffee before I actually have a cup of coffee. Overall, I'm pleased. It's lasted long enough that I'm satisfied with the longevity, and the scent is closer to actual pine tar than other pine soaps I've tried in the past. I would probably purchase again.

Awesome scent.
Probably the best soap I've ever used. Pricey, but worthy.

Smells amazing!
The smell of the pine tar is absolutely amazing, also love that it's free of harsh chemicals like sodium laurel sulfate. Definitely a great option if you're looking for a natural soap! I believe it would be a lot cheaper to buy them on their site for $9 per bar as opposed to $23 as of right now (They need to pay for amazon storage fees and so forth). The only thing I didn't like about the charcoal component of the pine tar soap was that its extremely messy in a white shower. coats the floor fairly thickly with black. It's not hard to clean, also not "easy" but other than that great soap! looking forward to trying different scents! LOVE THAT THEY'RE NATURAL!

Don't Get Your Hopes Up
So the positives: - Smells wonderful - Makes a nice thick lather - Leaves you clean, as a good soap does The negatives: - Not a viable treatment for skin disorders. Don't believe the claims. If this was a valid treatment, actual dermatologists would use it. This won't really do much for any acne, dandruff. Save your money if that's what you're looking for. - The Price. Holy Moley. - The smell does not linger or last, so it's really just for you while you're washing up. Anyone else would have to get really close to notice, and you yourself won't notice it anymore within a few minutes of leaving the shower. - Needs to be protected from the elements and kept away from moisture. I cut the bar in quarters and used one piece at a time. If you don't keep it in a watertight dish away from humidity (a sealed soap dish), it'll turn to goop and be very hard to use. - It takes about 1/4 the time to go through a bar as normal soap. Even keeping it sealed and out of water, this stuff just foams away to nothing in no time at all.

Very good soap, just overpriced
Title says it all, found this soap was really nice on the skin for exfoliating. Smell after the shower doesn't last that long but definitely noticeable. JUST TOO EXPENSIVE!! This soap is $9 on dr. Squatchs website...
