Taste the Thunder (Bolt)
I grind and brew my own coffee daily, and am very picky about what my wife and I drink. There are no worries when it comes to Koffee Kult's Thunder Bolt Whole Bean. While it packs plenty of flavor, it is surprisingly easy to drink for a French Roast. There is a touch of bitterness which can become more pronounce if it isn't brewed properly, but when it is done right this is an amazing brew. It works well black or with a touch of half and half. I only use filtered or spring water, and grind my beans right before brewing. For a full pot I also include a pinch of sea salt and a dash of Ceylon cinnamon with the grinds. That first cup wakes me right up and the aroma is fantastic. It also holds up well to staying warm throughout the morning compared to some less premium coffees. I guess that may be due to Koffee Kult only using the top 2% of premium Columbian aracbica beans. I appreciate that they are ethically and organically sourced as well so don't mind paying just a touch more. They are worth it! While the company is fairly local, it was less expensive to get them through Amazon and the beans were still relatively freshly roasted. ~ Kort

WOW! Koffee Kult's newest convert
I'm a believer. I brew with a pour-over cone / course burr grind / hot water kettle (see pics & video). This is the best coffee I've ever tasted. Rich and full bodied with no acid or bitterness just great coffee flavor. The Roasted On Date (pictured) was the SAME DATE I ordered the coffee and it arrived two days later. The BLOOM on these beans was AMAZING!! The pour-over method required one to slightly soak the course ground beans for 30 seconds before starting the actual pour-over. I've never seen beans bloom like that (pictured). This coffee is just fantastic. This is the first and only Koffee Kult product I've bought, and I cant wait to try the Dark Roast and Kenya AA. I am a believer, and am officially joining the Koffee Kult Nation.

Very good coffee beans
Very good coffee beans. This review is of WHOLE BEAN coffee. I've ordered this twice now, so I've been through one two pounder and am into the next. It is very very good coffee. It is bold, as advertised, but not harsh. It is quite full bodied and not too acidic. I brew it in a french press. The beans are very evenly roasted to a medium-dark brown. There is some surface oil, but not a ton (not like Starbuck's French Roast, for example, that is so oily it looks wet!). There are still enough oils inside the beans to make some nice swirly golden foam when you brew it, which is great. The flavor is strong without being too harsh. Its hard to describe the flavor, but it is on the heavier, fuller-bodied end of the spectrum, not earthy and light, but richer, a bit sweeter, and just heavy (again, from a French press). The quality of these beans is very high. The size and color (roasting level) are VERY consistent throughout the bag. And my second bag tastes just like the first bag. I like.

Thunder bolt and Road Dog
I was looking for a strong coffee, to brew in my New French Press, I started out with Death Wish, which I was actually disappointed in, so I decided to try Thunder bolt. Thunderbolt, crushed Death Wish, in flavor, aroma, price and strength, but I was still looking for a little extra bite. Koffee Kult customer service contacted me as soon as I received my coffee and wanted to make sure I was completely satisfied, I told them I was 90% satisfied, but still was looking for a little extra bite, Mariana, the customer service agent suggested Road Dog, that's the home run. So while I give a great rating to Thunder Bolt for most looking for a strong coffee, if you are a real monster looking for super strong, order the Road Dog. By the way Koffee Kult's customer service is second to none.

One of the best coffee beans out there (and I’ve tried many).
*This comment is for the Thunder Bolt bean* If you prefer a strong, bold coffee flavor then you won’t find a better option than the Thunder Bolt bean. We are not fans of most medium roasts as they tend to be too acidic or too many citrus notes, which can sometimes leave a not so pleasant after taste. We are mostly espresso-based coffee drinkers and find the Thunder Bolt bean comparable to La Colombe Corsica, Starbucks Italian Roast or Intellegencia. Very very good!! They also get an A+ for their excellent packaging. The coffee beans come in a zip lock type of bag to keep them fresh with easy access.

Great coffee
I like my coffee to be bold tasting, but not bitter and Koffee Kult comes through on both counts.I have previously been buying their Dark Roast blend and consider it to be my favorite so far. This is the first time I have tried this Thunder Bolt blend and my first impressions are that it is even bolder then their Dark Roast, but still very enjoyable to drink and not to overpowering.I buy the beans and grind my own and I will continue to use Koffee Kult for my coffee needs. The beans are always fresh when delivered.

Not liking this coffe
Don't know what the rave was about. I ordered one bag (2 pounds whole beans) of Koffee Kult Thunder Bolt to try. I think it is claimed to be the strongest dark roast that Koffee Kult makes. My bag has a "Best By" date of 1/30/2022. However, it doesn't say when it was roasted. Could have been a long time ago. My first thought was "Gee, that's long shelf life." No matter, as long as the coffee tastes good. I normally brew my coffee in a French Press. With some coffee, however, they do better with the pour-over method, which I also used on this coffee. However, I was not able to make this coffee taste good, regardless of amount of coffee to water ratio and brew time. I would compare this coffee to a slightly stale Columbian medium roast, definitely not a dark roast by my standard. The acidic after taste is long, which I dislike. Needless to say, I won't be buying this coffee again.
