The gas is ignited by a 23,000v charge and stays illuminated by a constant 12v source provided by a ballast which is connected directly to your battery. Remarkably, HID lights are able to provide greater light output with much less power consumption. Studies show that a 35w HID lamp produces 3 times as much light than a 55w halogen bulb. Everything was easy to install, the instructions were a little tricky but nothing I couldn't figure out, and I finally had the uber-headlights I've always wanted. Then, one brisk November evening driving home from work, a deer hit me. I think it had been drinking, but I am not sure as someone had already loaded it into their truck and sped off. The only damage was one destroyed headlight.We replaced the headlight assembly, and found that the bulb was damaged from the impact, so I bought these replacement bulbs. Then found that the ballast was shot. You know how it is when you're working on a car, plumbing, renovating, et cetera: once you fix one thing, another issue presents itself. So, I had to replace the ballasts.I am pleased to report that my lights are now fully operational. I am very impressed with SDX's products and as long as they are sellers, I will never have factory headlights again. The bulbs arrive as shown, with the protective thingies around the bulb, and installed without a problem. The bulbs are bright and the color is exactly as specified. Every reflective surface almost to the horizon lights right up at night. I had spent weeks researching HID conversion kits prior to my initial purchase of the kit, and I without a doubt recommend SDX. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nice Color, Buy a second set just in case. *by 1***P on Reviewed in the United States on March 3, 2015* I can say that these in fact are 5000k, unlike another seller (SuperDuperLED) that put white-out on the box to sell 6000ks as "5000ks"Not much to say, they are working, they are bright, and they look good. Initially there was a difference in color, however after getting them though their break-in period they seem to be better now. First startup one of them was orange and still is upon startup... in my experience this is an early indication of a bulb that is likely to fail. For the price though it's not worth getting them swapped out. Perhaps they will be just fine anyway. I will probably order another set as backups in case the worst should happen. It's usually not a bad idea to have a second bulb handy in the car should you be on a long road trip.They work, they're cheap, and it's the color I wanted. Can't complain. I'm Happy. ### ⭐ These "10000k" bulbs are a much better look than 6000k bulbs I bought in 2014 *by A***B on Reviewed in the United States on February 1, 2017* First, this is my second time buying HIDs from Kensun. These "10000k" bulbs are a much better look than 6000k bulbs I bought in 2014. This not a negative comment, I just like the 10k better. I hope you saw I bought this kit in 2014 and the ballast still work. I even stop using one for several months and when I plugged in, light was came right on. I'd like to say that Kensun should be in Best Buy, Walmart, Home Depot where their products should be used for all your lighting needs. These "10000k" bulbs are a very light blue color and the description is correct. They're a bright white with a hint of blue, it's a bit more bluer in tint which is perfect. However, the shipping time was horrible, even thought the tracking showed they arrived on time. Prime Members beware. For the $$$ someone might want a bit better shipping option. I would've given more stars if so.UPDATEI should've said this is the second pair in two plus years. The second pair made it the first YEAR and a few months of ownership the light just stop working, and when this happened I emailed Kensun because calling them did not worked the first time. I used the Amazon email instead, good thing right? It's been almost a week now and no response. Hey it's under warranty for year, but it's expired.
