Dayton Audio DC200-8 8" Classic Woofer

I was looking for a new driver for rebuilding a Jensen JS 800 sub that I have had for 20 years. I wanted to rebuild it because it is an acoustic suspension woofer, meaning it is a sealed box without any ports. I have had good luck with buying products from Dayton Audio in the past (drivers, amplifiers), so I felt good about this one. It has a large magnet and a good, sturdy paper cone, and the connectors worked very well. I took out the old driver and pulled the lightweight foam from the inside of the cabinet. The cabinet is not too thick or reinforced so I added some Siless damping sheets (a type of Spanish Lo-Rez) inside of the (3) walls and the top and I reattached the foam to this and then added about 60% poly fill inside the cabinet. I connected the speaker wires and bolted the Dayton driver in place which lined up correctly with the existing (4) holes. After the rebuild the sub is producing a good sound that is deep for it's size and not boomy at all, and has no distortion. I have it in a nearfield setup with my gaming/desktop PC. I am very happy with the performance.

When I received the Dayton Audio DC200-8 8" Classic Woofers, I found they were carefully packed against any potential shipping damage. Taking them out of the box, it took me about 10 minutes to replace each of my 40-year-old woofers whose paper cones had long since disintegrated. Once they were replaced< I had my wife start a movie she had been watching earlier in the day. She was astonished at the difference. She commented on being able to easily hear the deep soft cello notes that she hadn't been able to hear previously. As a musician, she was immediately taken by the speakers and the clear crisp sound they produced. From my perspective, the speakers were super easy to install and I didn't have to make any adjustments to the screw holes or anything else. The sound is so much better than the old speakers, I can't remember when these old speakers sounded so good. The price was considered very reasonable. If I had to do it again, I'd chose these woofers.

Excellent value, good quallity OEM style replacement with better surround, structure and good performance. It's not a super high quality woofer like a Vifa or a Peerless, but a better woofer than most original equipment 8" woofers, by far.

Super happy, using for pincab. Rattles the floor and scares the cats.

It fits perfect on my Bose 601 series, and clear sound.

This speaker is a perfect replacement for Realistic Nova 15- 8 inch woofer. I was concerned that it wouldn't produce the sound as equal or close to the original... I couldn't be more wrong. This speaker IMHO sounds better. Don't make the mistake of re-foaming or repairing blown speaker as I did, save your money and time, Just buy it, you won't be disappointed. I forgot to mention that they fit in the original mounting position of Nova 15 cabinet without modification or drilling new holes. However you will need to modify the speaker connection wire in the cabinet to fit to speakers, a real simple fix.

This works great for replacing the sub-woofer speaker in an Infinity BL1. The four mounting hole spacing is a little off, but its workable without drilling new mounting holes in a slightly different location. One of the speaker's female spade connectors is polarized (the minus I believe) by being a smaller width than is commonly used - that has to be replaced with a larger female spade connector.

45年前のSANSUI SP-X1（密閉型）がそろそろ寿命で改造。25ｃｍウーファー（40Ｈｚ～）を外し、その代わりにとデイトンの20ｃｍを購入。バッフルの6割ほどを切り取り、現物合わせで自作したバッフル板を中へ入れ、元のバッフル板の裏側へ固定。 同時にバスレフ型に改造したため、吸音材は大幅に減らし、ウーファー位置は下寄りから中央付近に変更、ツイーターも上へずらした。おかげでバッフル板の見た目はひどいが、JBLとSANSUIが提携していた頃の木の格子のカバーを付けることで隠した。この格子への愛着で捨てられなかったもの。 バスレフポートは３種ほど試し、断面積が小さめの33Hzを狙ったものを採用。低音がふんだんに出てきて、同じ音楽でも別物に聞こえる事もある。重低音が、ややボヨンとした音に聞こえる事があるのは、調整やエイジングで変わるものなのか、原音がその音なのか不明。でも、そう気にはならず、低音を楽しんでいる。バロック中心からジャズやポップスを聞く比率が増えた。たまに重低音が大音量で録音されている曲があり、驚く。 自作バックロードホーン（13ｃｍスピーカー）と聞き比べると、低音の伸びは同等に聞こえる。バックロードホーン（BH）のわずかに出てくる残響音（？）や広い低音域での絶妙なボリュームレベルが臨場感につながっている気がして、わずかにBHの方が役者が上という印象。 ユーチューブの周波数が徐々に上がっていく音源を試すと、デイトンでは20Hzからごく小さな音が聞こえ出したのに対し、自作BHでは30Hz辺りが聞こえ始めだった。どちらも50Hz辺りから上はまあまあの音量になった。（あくまで私の聞こえ方です。耳に自信があるわけではありません） ウーファ径を小さくしたのに低音がぐっと増えて音楽の楽しみアップ。いい改造ができ満足です。

Two speakers received in time. But disappointing that, one speaker has serious issue with it's coil is seriously rubbing on magnet. I can feel it by pushing gently the cone paper. Other one is ok. What to do

40年以上前のスピーカーを使っていましたが、音がビビるので「Dayton Audio DC200-8 クラシックシリーズ 20cm ウーファー 8Ω」に取り替えました、結果は上々です音がクリヤーで前と比べものなりませんでした、40年前のと比較ではあたり前かもしれませんが満足しています。

40年経ったオンキョー製スピーカーのウーファーがボロボロだったので、交換しました。音質の良し悪しはよくわかりませんが、手頃な価格でそれなりに鳴ってます。満足してます。
