As-is, the grommet is super tight trying to slip over PVC so the sanding is necessary but doesn't wear away the grommet away to the point it can't do its job. Even so, I still applied Romex cable pulling lube over the PVC and it slipped right on. I know this is a non-traditional application but thought someone might find it useful. Review: Will work with 2" SHD40 PVC pipe - I wanted a rubber grommet to run a 2" SHD40 PVC pipe through a metal shed and to keep the weather out. Some reviews said it would NOT fit, some reviews said it would but it was too tight to run the pipe through the grommet, and some reviews said it would work. I took a chance and bought it. IT FITS JUST FINE ON 2" SCH40 PVC PIPE ! I was able to slide the grommet onto the pipe without problems and without and silicone or Vaseline. Hole lines up great, unfortunately the thickness of the tank wall made it impossible to seat it properly in the rim of the hole, but that’s not the product’s fault. I used a non-standard fiberglass tank, so I ended up just using RTV to seal it.
