    Not quite perfect

*by A***I on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on February 19, 2021*

It's not perfectly flat and mine had a couple of high spots around the corner, possibly they didn't clean up the steel after it was cut. The high spots were knocked down easily enough by rubbing edges of the plate with another sharpening stone. It's flat enough that it would probably be fine for sharpening most knives, and flattening waterstones too so long as you don't absolutely need them to be perfectly flat. The diamonds seem to be well adhered, they don't immediately start flaking off like cheap diamond tools. And the interrupted pattern seems to make the diamonds last longer for reasons I don't understand, although I'm not sure about that. I'm using it for something that wears out plates very quickly and it's at least approximately as durable as a DMT plate. Also I like that it came with a rubber mat to sit it on, very thoughtful.Would make a great coarse stone for knives, so long as you're not a perfectionist.

large, well designed & made coarse diamond sharpener at great price

*by S***K on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on December 6, 2017*

PROS:-Good mass. The plate is heavy steel, thicker than I expected.-Good size, a little larger than other 2"x6" plates... should make it a lot easier to sharpen wider chisels and plane steels.-It has a bright finish on it.. all sides including under the face of the grit... likely whatever they embed the diamond into is coating all sides. So far, it appears to do an excellent job of resisting rust. I used it wet with no issues. This has been a problem with another more expensive fine plate I have.-The diamond grit seems to be of fairly uniform size though it's harder to tell with coarse grit. Certainly uniform enough for a #150 and #600 plate. No 'snot globs' of diamond like I've seen on really cheap diamond sharpeners.- I like grit-free cross-hatch pattern on the faces, which allows for debris to collect away from the diamond-coated surfaces.- It's a small thing, but the included rubber strip (to place the plate on) helps keep the plate in place and protects whatever you're placing it on. In my case, I've already used this to re-face a couple chisels on my Corian kitchen counter-top and the combined mass of the 'stone' and the rubber strip helped keep the 'stone' from moving as I used it.All in all...It did exactly what I needed it to do, quickly cut through tool steel to remove chips and other defects from my chisels that an Arkansas stone or my finer-grit stones would have have taken me more than 10x more work to accomplish. The size is excellent, especially at this price. I look forward to putting a clean bevel edge on some planer steels next.CONS:NONE (so far). I've just received it and, so far, only run a couple chisels across it but it seems to be well made. No indication that it's shedding grit yet. No indication that it will rust when used wet.If there's anything I could possibly qualify as a con with this... I like to support US tool-makers, but I had a need for this and at least one additional diamond sharpener and, right now, my budget doesn't support buying DMT's (or similar's) very nice but very expensive large plate diamond sharpeners.I'm VERY happy so far. I plan to order a finer grit plate from them based on my experience with this one. Uniformity of grit size and flatness/quality of the plate is more important there so I wanted to see if they could get the #150/#600 right first. So far, so good. From what I'm seeing, even if a finer-grit version isn't perfect, I expect it will be more than adequate for me to a point where I can quickly finish up with my Japanese wet stones.

    Great value for the price

*by C***M on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on August 24, 2021*

Very good as quality. Mine wasn't "perfectly" flat, had a very, very small rise on one edge. I'll just stay away from it for perfect edges. Good enough for flattening coarse whetstones. After breaking in the surfaces it's a great sharpener! And the price was fantastic.Edit - whacked the one slightly high edge with a brass hammer a couple times, now it's almost perfect!
