I use these as cat treats. They have simple ingredients and much better value than bonito flakes that are specifically marketed for cats. The pieces are good sized, and not too crumbly. I like that they have a lot of aroma and flavor, without as many calories as most treats.

These are the best bonito flakes I have found. The price, quantity, and quality cannot be beat. I actually purchase these for my cats (the dog likes them too) and they are so much better than the ones sold intended for pets. The flakes are huge and they are so fresh. I'm so glad I found these.

Budget katsuobushi is probably not a phrase you want to hear. But I've been using this brand for a couple years now and it makes good food. I use it to make dashi, rice balls... and just to sprinkle on dishes like sautéed spinach, kombu tsukudani, and rice bowls. I make sure to keep the bag well sealed (double seal it in an outer zip-lock) and it stays fresh for a long time in the pantry. Grateful for the price and I like the slightly larger shavings for cooking.

Got this for our cat. Came well packed and the bag had lots of air in it to protect the shavings. Our bag did have more fine flakes in it than I would have expected. I guess they get broken into tiny pieces during shipment. But, our cat will love them regardless.
