It does the job it is supposed to. Stainless steel screws are included for its mounting so it makes the job of installing easier. There was no searching for the correct screws to use and everything fit. To use just pull the 'T' handle and it pivots around and has locking positions where needed. I swing my downriggers out 90 degrees from the boat then when going to and from the fishing grounds swing them aft and out of the way which is why I bought this great non-rusting product that I use on a 19 foot ocean going boat. I replaced my old downrigger with a new one and this low profile mount is lower than the old one and works very smoothly.

This product is not cheap, for what it is, basically two plates on a swivel. I also believe that it should be included in the package when you purchase the canon downrigger. Shame on Canon! That said, it is what it is and you have to buy it seperately. However, this swivel provides such an improvement in functionality, especially with an eletric rigger, that you should never leave the store without one. You can even say it is a safety feature, since I almost fell out of my boat one time while reaching out to the downrigger boom before I had this swivel base. Bite the bullet and buy this thing. And Canon, maybe you would have more repeat customers if you threw this baby in the box!

A downrigger needs to be mounted on a swivel base for versatility and storage when boating. This works perfectly. It’s a lot of money for what it is though.

Very low profile and turns with ease. Easy to mount. Nice to be able to turn the downrigger when hooking up line.
