I won’t go out without it.
The one time I left this at home, I got caught in a rain shower. While my cameras & most of my lenses are weather-sealed, the added protection from this Shell increases my confidence in the gear’s safety. I use it with a PD Capture clip when hiking. It’s easy to use, but folding it into the built-in pocket takes practice & luck. Build quality seems stellar so far. Water beads on the surface, rolls off. It can cover my A7iii & A7RV, both with battery grips. It handles my Sigma 100-400mm, too, on the wide end. It accommodates lens hoods, but doesn’t cover them, unless it’s a short, wide-angle lens. It’s easy to access camera controls. I wish it were less expensive — like US$10 cheaper — but it does the job, and my gear is definitely worth the expense.

Good product that is well
Much better than the garbage bad I was using. That worked fine, but not with spooky birds. This fits the camera better and is t to difficult to get off the back to take a photograph. Much less awkward too, and the smooth fabric is whiter and stretches.

Nice looking, well made, but prob not for everyone
1 star off b/c this isn’t for everyone (other reviews are accurate). It is sleek, very well constructed and if you know what you are buying you could be really happy. Very tight fit, IMO even the large is a little too tight with the largest size for a canon r6 and 24-105. But, I am taking on a trip somewhere very windy where I think the trade off will be worth it.

Excellent walking around camera raincoat
I bought this for a trip where rain and sprinkles were expected throughout the week. I was also looking at the bigger products (like ThinkTank, etc) but just wanted a small camera raincoat for walking around. This was a perfect solution. I followed the instructions on the Peak Design website and got one size larger than would fit snuggly so I could easily lift up the back to look through the viewfinder. For my camera (Canon 1DX Mark II with 28-75 lens) I bought a large and this worked out perfectly. I don't know why another reviewer said you can't lift the back to use the raincoat like Peak recommends. That's exactly what it's great for. Highly recommend.

Good looks, but inadequate function...
Was looking for something to cover my DSLR with a 24-70 2.8 or slightly longer lens and keep both from the elements between shooting locations. As a cover it's ok. I had to remove my hood and put it in my bag, because the Shell doesn't allow for the use of a hood unless you pull the cover back far enough to be able to use the hood. Not a deal breaker for me. I like that you can snug the cover around the camera and hook it on the outside of my PD Messenger bag or on a backpack strap - makes it easier to grab when you come upon something you want to photograph. That should make it convenient correct? Not really. The problem is that in order to look through the viewfinder, or turn on live view and use the LCD on the back, you have to loosen and pull Shell completely off the back of your camera. The PD picture of the guy with Shell pulled up in the back and shooting does not, to me, accurately depict the situation - If you need to use your controls/dials on the top of the body, you will want to pull it over the top and expose those controls. Negates the convenience of having it closer than simply in your bag. This is not a shooting cover (not explicitly described that way, but advert is a bit deceptive), and the front part around the lens might as well be closed around it. I am an avid fan of Peak Design and own several products that I very much enjoy (everyday messenger, field pouch, clutch, 2 slide straps, extra anchors, capture pro). Really wanted to like this as it certainly looks good and does provide protection from the elements, but I think they missed the mark here. Ultimately returned.

WORKS BETTER THAN HOPED....
I took the shell and Peak Design tote bag (the tote I purchased directly from Peak Design) to Cape Cod on a bus tour this past week. The shell was great protection from the elements (sand, rain). Easy to use. But more importantly the tote was the best investment for carrying around my d850, 20-70 mm & 70-200 mm camera gear. Easy to maneuver through the bus, crowds, without bumping into people, etc. My gear was safely stowed away and such easy access!!! Still can't believe how well it worked. One week onThanks Peak Design!!!!

Great addition to my outdoor photography kit
I bought this for a backpacking trip in the Tetons and am so glad that I did because we got soaked! I had a chest clip for my camera with this shell over it. It was the perfect set up for keeping my camera close to capture all the incredible veiws, but also covered and dry. It is a bit big and baggy for my Sony A7rii, but still worked great.

Waterproof, reasonably stylish, easily storable, high quality material. My camera and lenses are not weather sealed so this gives me some security in the horizontal rain of Scottish Summers. Struggles to give total protection over a supertelephoto, but regular telephoto lenses and so on are well protected. A little pricey but so far so good.

Works very well and excellent quality.
