Don't buy CAT 8 instead of CAT 6
I bought these CAT 6 cables after buying CAT 8 cables to connect my 1gb laptop network RJ45 to my switch. It's logical to think if CAT 5e works, get the larger number for a replacement. Wrong assumption. My laptop slowed to a crawl with the CAT 8 cable. The new CAT 6 cable worked as expected, even though it is shielded.and my old CAT5e was unshielded.
