Rab review
A very nice jacket. Bought a size Large. I’m 5’10, 190#, with a 43” chest, and the fit is perfect when wearing a sweatshirt. Wouldn’t be able to add many more layers under besides that. Optimally seems best at temperatures above 25 degrees F. Working outside this morning at 20, and could feel the cold creeping in. Quality seems very good, as expected from a Rab. Zipper is wimpy, and will have to treat it gingerly. Very happy with this purchase.

Disappointed with Rab Microlight Alpine
I’m very disappointed. I bought this in April 2025 after reading good reviews, but it doesn’t keep me warm in the 40s and it’s constantly losing feathers. I would return it if I still could. Definitely not worth the price.

light weight & warm.
Will fit over sweater nicely, medium fit was tight but exchanged for a large and now have a perfect winter light weight warm jacket.

Warm!
I wore this on an island in Scandinavia in November. I felt nothing! I was able to walk around, bike around...just enjoy the outdoors. I'm now back in the States where it's even colder. Today I rode my bike in 31 degrees and I was hot with my thin hoddie underneath it. It's super light and easy to pack as well.

Great Fit
I got this jacket to wear around town or to work. It fits great, and feels good when I wear it. The hood fits great, the jacket is warm and seems to do ok in light rain… The downside is that the jackets color got darker when the fabric got wet and some parts didn’t return to the color the jacket originally was. The jacket also has an old down jacket smell. It reminds me of a musky smell. It isn’t bad, but I never have experienced that with my Mountain Hardware down jacket. If I had paid full price for the jacket I would be upset, but I got a great deal on it.

Very light but very warm ideal for early/late season over just a shirt. Rab products are expensive but you get what you pay for and this doesn’t disappoint.

It seems like many people don’t understand the role and design of this jacket. Rab is an outdoor sports - eg. trekking and mountaineering - manufacturer of apparel. The Microlight is therefore designed to be used actively. For Asian sizes, it may seem a little loose fitting, and the sizes are more in tune with European fits. So keep that in mind. In my view, the slightly loose fit is designed to accommodate 1 or 2 other layers of clothing to keep you really warm when active. Such as a separate fleece jacket. I took this jacket on a trek in Nepal, and it was more than warm enough for -5 Celsius and lots of wind, when paired with a base layer and fleece underneath it. If you’re going to use it over just a t-shirt, go down a size. If you plan on layering, stick with the regular size. The closer it feels to your body, the more it will help in keeping you warm and trapping heat. That’s what down jackets do. A loose fitting down jacket won’t help as air gets between the jacket and your body. Just my opinion, but I’d be comfortable using this jacket in -10C with layering. Others might find it different as everyone has different cold tolerances. It’s lightweight, allows for great arm movement, and is very well designed. Just know how to use it with the rest of your clothing. Worth the premium price.

Perfect size, warm, comfy and real quality with down filled feathers. Hood isn’t too large like other brands, nice size with a stiffened peak. Can’t go wrong with Rab, not the cheapest but you get what you pay for and more.
