ALSO in the manual it says it's rated at 20 amps 220 volts-( this is different than what the machine label says, look at pics- the plug WILL NOT FIT a 20 amp 220 volt twist lock outlet ) It comes with an L6-30P three prong plug attached, great. I took it apart and the wires appear to be 10 gauge which is indeed rated for 30 amps. I used a piece of 12 gauge THHN wire placed next to the plug to show clearly the thickness difference of the wires. So it is indeed apparently able to handle 30 amps, I had to TIGHTEN the ground screw and two hot lead screws after taking the plug apart DO THIS right away save yourself issues. I have included pics of THIS units label showing the power requirements CHECK YOUR PARTICULAR UNIT when you get it as it may differ from this one. Have not used it yet but will post an update when I do. The yellow with green stripe is GROUND, the blue wire seems to be the hot lead ( if hooking it up to 115 volts ) as it connects to the wider of the two hot lead prongs on this L6-30P twist lock three prong plug, the brown is the other hot lead connected to the thinner of the two hot lead prongs. ( this MAY be your neutral when connected to 115 volts, ) IF NOT SURE hire a licensed electrician to look at it for you ! UPDATE: Added pics of the wiring for the new 30 amp twist lock outlet coming from the main panel. 10 gauge THHN/THWN copper wire, two hot legs blk/red and one green ground wire. As you can see I pigtailed the green wire to the metal junction box using the correct green ground screw PER National Electrical Code for safety, as well as used grey bushings at the junction box and the main panel entrance of the EMT conduit ends, again PER NEC code for safety to prevent chaffing of the wires. Had some 10 gauge extension cord so cut off the 20 amp 115v plus and wired in 250v 30 amp twist lock plugs, worked great. Your local hardware store won't have the proper size outlet cover so you will have to order one either here or from Garvin Industries, they have the correct hole size cover for a 30 amp outlet on a 4x4 junction box. Now onto the machine, set it up, took off the cover of the cutter to check the hose connections, one end of the air hose inside the machine was loose, tightened it ! also used Teflon tape on all the fittings and tightened them. Held air pressure though the gauge on the machine says almost 90 lbs max, BUT your working pressure will be 70 pounds ! cut some 1/8 th thick steel, and it did cut it though but it was sloppy the cut made lots of balled up steel on the cut, perhaps user error, still need to practice using it. BUT it cut it easily at half the rated output. At full output I did not notice a drastic difference in cut quality, going faster does help slightly for a cleaner cut. I am using the provided guard which prevents unnecessary wear on the tips until I get replacement ones. But it works as advertised. The pilot arc makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE in the world to make it easier to start. Now of course I was using a welding helmet which is TOO DARK, get some #5 shade welder's glasses and it should be much easier to see the work and get better results ! So with a little time and patience setting up the cutter is not difficult, just make sure all your electrical connections and air hose connections are tight and it should do well for you ! It is worth the extra hundred. I bought the lower priced one, and it is a major pain to try to figure out how to strike an arc in different situations. Rather than rig things up so it will strike with the circle cutter and a straight line cutter, I decided to abandon the lower priced model and make it easier and better on myself. I mean, how many hours would I work extra to make the lower priced one work vs. paying the $100? **Q: Does this come with a 110 plug?** A: The one I received did not. It was a 220 plug. No option for 110 plug at that time. This machine has been great so far. Quick and easy set up and straightforward to use. I did change over the plug to work with my welder outlet and bought an adapter for 120V. So far I have used it on one significant job cutting big sheets of 13 gauge steel and it did a nice job. No touch is really nice as my tip, electrode and cup still look like new. I tried cutting with both 120V and then switched over to my 240V outlet and both worked fine when cutting at 35-40A. I have yet to cut at 50A on a thicker piece of steel but expect that it will do fine up to 1/4" based on my positive experience thus far. However, I suspect you would have to cut really slow for anything above 1/4".
