What are the uses of the three sponges? I've heard the white is for smoothing work but what about the other two?

The white is a finishing sponge for groggy clay. It smooths the grog back down for smooth edges. It's the only one I use for smoothing and finishing groggy clay. The other 2 are used, as noted,for making and throwing on any type of clay.

What is the best way to store these when not using?

I use mine almost daily so theoretically I don’t store them. When they dry, they are hard, just like they were when new. I don’t think storing them would be an issue.

Has anyone used this item on unfired ceramics?

What do you mean? I used it to sponge glaze on bisque fire pieces and on the wheel when I’m making the piece to absorb excess water.

Lost of actual material ingredients?

Not sure what you are asking. If you mean do the sponges wipe away a lot of the clay, I’d say no.
