Review: Great Books! - My son and I have read the first three books together. These books focus heavily on history but have intertwined Christianity into the stories. They are quite similar to the Magic Tree House series. My five year old loves them and stays interested, often begging for one more chapter. I enjoy that they have a Christian tone while also giving some historical information. I do edit these books as I am reading as some content seems dark for a five year old, in my opinion. However, the recommended age is 6 and up for most of the titles. So I expected I would have to edit certain things, such as death threats from the Khan military. There’s often only a small part I will edit in the book. It has not been anything major. I still recommend these books, even if you’re reading them to a 5 year old! They’re definitely written for young readers but there are a lot of twists and turns. My kid is fascinated learning about the real people that the kids meet up with, as well as the slowly unfolding mystery across all the books.
