These are really useful straps for attaching my kayak to the car securely. The only negative point is that the rubber section is hollow and compresses, and that allows it to start to slip between the closed surfaces. It would be far better if this were a solid non-compressible cylinder of rubber. They can probably be reinforced with a short length of bamboo or similar inside, but I've not actually been fussed enough yet to try that. They get used weekly though and have helped hold an 18' sea kayak securely on the roof for over 2000 miles of driving in the past few months.

Really easy to use and the materials are durable. Used mine for a couple of seasons now and no issues at all.

These work a treat

Bought these as we have a very long 3 people kayak. They are very easy to fix on the car, just open the bonnet and place the "Tube" inside and keep he loop outside, close it and you are good to go. Same thing on the boot. They are sturdy and durable so far used them 3 times for long journeys

Two parts: Strap seems strong enough and well stitched. The strap is threaded through a flexible rubber tube, so only a cm or so of rubber is actually restraining the strap. Maybe the car will grip the strap, but I doubt it would be tight enough. So the home upgrade - a bit of bamboo fixed down the tube (inside the strap loop) would add a great deal of resistance, a bolt even more.
