Specifically, do not overtighten the oil cap, the spec is 18 ft lbs., go over/fail to use a torque wrench and the filter is very likely to “crush.” The O-ring “failure” I saw in one review clearly shows that the ring was not installed in the O-ring channel, rather on the top thread where it would be destroyed immediately upon installation. Bottomline, this is a great filter that will perform perfectly when installed correctly. I just want my fellow BMW enthusiast to enjoy their cars, take a moment to verify the correct installation procedure and you wont be disappointed with this filter. Review: Can’t complain.
