Dell Adapter USB-C to HDMI / DP with Power Pass-Through

This adapter works great on the newest Dell XPS 13 laptop with 4K resolution so you can connect a 4k monitor while having the power port charging the laptop. Would have liked to have a USB-A port instead of the extra display port on it but you can't risk aftermarket adapters with power pass through as they always post errors on your laptop. Tried a UNI adapter on a macbook pro and it did not work, had to order apple brand, so stick with your laptop brand name for your adapters if you don't want issues. A bit pricey but you get what you paid for.

I have a MacBook Pro running Big Sur and had another Dell docking station that uses Displaylink drivers for external monitors. Big Sur doesn’t allow displaylink to remain active when you close the laptop. I added this device for one of the monitors and it allows the MBP to stay awake when you close the lid (ie clamshell mode). It also has features for monitor settings of portrait versus landscape— if you’re into that sort of thing

Generally I define a need then search for a product that fills the need. When I purchased my new Dell monitor, however, I added this device because I figured other people who bought it had a good reason. Glad I did. I set up three monitors on my computer along with multiple peripherals and it really came in handy.

I've used it for HDMI and DisplayPort. Those worked fine. The power-delivery works when I plug in the USB-C output into my laptop and then plug power to the USB-C input of the adapter. But it doesn't work when I plug the power into the adapter first and then plug that into my laptop.

I purchased this to use with a company Dell Latitude business laptop. I use the laptop’s built in HDMI port for one monitor and the adapter’s DP port for a second monitor. Both monitors running at max resolution. 1920 for the adapter’s DP port and 1440 for the older monitor using the laptop’s built in HDMI port.

I tried so many hdmi to usb c adapters and nothing worked or it was wonky and cut in and out finally one that works!!

The displayport connection only supports a single monitor. This is bad news if you plan to daisy chain. Additional monitors will simply be a mirror of the first. I happen to have another adapter by Dell that does support daisychaining, although it does not provide power. Quite a confusing product portfolio.

My docking station broke so I had to directly link the monitor to my laptop. The adapter was easy to figure out and has had no issues

It functions correctly for HDMI, but the USB-C port is non-functioning. When using it with the OEM charger that came with the laptop for power pass pass-through, a dialogue box opens and says, "Slow Charger. To speed up charging, use the charger that came with the device." On the battery symbol in the task bar it shows a warning symbol and does not appear to be charging. Neither the USB-C headset, nor the mouse and keyboard function on the adapter either.

As mentioned by others, this is NOT the round dock with multiple ports. This is a USB c to HDMI and dp adapter and that’s it. After you order the picture will change to the actual product. Scam!!!!

The adapter in the image has a usb port, and is differently shaped. The adapter I got has no USB port. it's also rectangular and not round.

.... which seem to be indicating that the photo doesn't match the product. Very true. I wonder how long it'll take them to fix this.
