Can you disconnect wires from holder, so you can attach your own?

I don't think you can detach the wires inside the base although I'm not sure why you would want to. If you want to attach your cable and don't want the long extra piece of cable that comes with the holder then shorten it.

Simple and effective

I was able to convert old style halogen low voltage lamps to new style GU 10 easily, each one took about 10 minutes where most of the time used was extracting the old transforming unit. These made the job very easy and the new wide dispersion LED lamps, make the room more than half as bright again.
