Happy Holidays Doll Special Edition (1998 Mattel)

Such a beautiful barbie.

The Barbie Collector Doll of the World India 2012 is a marvelous adult collector doll. I thought the apex of Mattel's dolls of India was reached in DOTW India 2001 but not so. The 2012 doll instead of the bride's dressing and comportment we see a healthy, wealthy Bollywood type beauty that is subtle. Each of us has their own favorites. I love the dressing on the dolls of India that are Caucasian and wear the dress of India. They remind me of the early African American Black dolls that were just dipped in chocolate and were supposed to satisfy the collector or child playing with them. They are just white dolls who meet an ideal that sells. I do not care for these dolls wearing these outfits which I'm sure are marketed for children and collectors more effort over the years to make racial types. God made us a rainbow of peoples. I want to see that reflected in our dolls. Let me enjoy her more and I'll have more to say. For now, I want to say that I prefer this model to the 1995 and I believe the 1985 dolls of India. For now I'll say at last the Barbie DOTW 2001 and Barbie DOTW 2012 of India are sisters. My only criticism is that I feel her sari and head wrap should have more material. I am unsure about the monkey, but nearly all the 2012 dolls have a symbolic pet. I hope you appreciate and love this doll as much as I already do. Mattel, you do not want to stray from your formula too much and if it works for you... I marked a few ones in the toyability of this doll because she is not for your 8 year old to tear up, hack off her hair. When they are old enough then they can be appreciated. Fast and excellent condition! My daughter had the same Barbie 20+ years ago. She was hurt when I allowed her baby sister to play with them. Being able to replace them for her 30th birthday is such a blessing. Thank you!!!

This is a hefty price for a Barbie, especially if you are not an avid collector, but have been exposed to the exhilarating winter holiday of Tickle-Me-Elmo and the Holiday Barbie of '96 ( we also had a huge blizzard that year.) where prices for these mere toys fetched as much as $2,000.00 each! My daughter does not ask for much during the holidays buy asked to simply have this doll. At $60.00 it was a lot, The Barbie is beautifully decorated with a bindi, tikka, and intricate sari. The monkey is even adorable, which is easy to cling to her arm. She comes with her own passport, brush, and info card. She is beautiful and makes your child want to experience more about that country. (if your child is hyper-curious, just like my daughter.) You will not regret your purchase.

The doll and its box had good conditions, the doll is beautiful. It was a gift, my daughter was very happy.

The doll arrived in good shape. Very pretty. But the box had a partially ripped-off sale price pasted on and but was open. So the packaging was ruined.

The Barbie looked like it was still 1998.

Diese indische Barbie ist bildschön ,detailgenau designed mit goldfarbenem Sari und langen schwarzen, glänzenden Haaren, die zu einem lockeren Zopf gebunden sind und mit viel goldfarbenem Schmuck. Ein Hingucker. Ich habe für sie für knapp über 100 Euro gekauft, sehr teuer,aber ein Sammlerstück, nicht als Spielpuppe für Kinder geeignet, sondern als Collecters' Item für Erwachsene.

18 years later,I finally get to call her my own.Absolutely love her.The face,the dress,everything about her is just gorgeous.Considering the age this beauty is manufactured,I must say the box is still in good condition.The top gray plastic lid where Barbie is written is just luxurious.She is everything the picture shows.Marvellous!!! It's a shame that Mattel doesn't produce them with such a high quality before compared to how they are produced now. And the price is such a bargain.If you are looking for quality Barbie to add to your collection,this one is a total must.
