I have used the original Microhearths for many, many years and love them. Recently I've tried the new "copies" of the original, and found them to be awful, to OK. This is one of the OK ones. The grill plate does not get nearly as hot, or retain it's heat (after pre-heating) as well as the original Microhearth, but with extra time in the microwave, it does get the job done (eventually). I think this has to do with the thickness of the grill plate (gets hotter and holds heat) because I weighed the two units and found the original to be a heavier than the copy models. With the "Awful" copies, the unit was much lighter and barely cooked the food. But this one, an OK one, is just a few ounces lighter, so it does brown/crisp the meat when it's left in long enough. For instance, with the original Microhearth, I pre-heated for 2 minutes, then cooked the meat 4 minutes on each side, and maybe another 1 min on each side to really crisp it. On this one, I have to pre-heat 3-4 minutes, then cook 5 minutes on each side and then maybe another 2 on each side again. It gets the job done, but just not as efficiently.

The fact that the only instructions were in Korean was not emphasized when viewing teh product. Trying to get these instructions in English proved frustrating and we sent it back while ordering another model that included instructions in English.
